“The Curious Savage” is the story of Mrs. Ethel Savage, an elderly widow whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. She intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams,” but her stepchildren strongly object. To prevent her from doing away with their family’s wealth and ruining their legacy, they have her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters, and it is among the unique residents there that she finds her true family. "The Curious Savage” is a warm comedy comparing the kindness and loyalty of the patients inside The Cloisters with the greed and hostility of those on the outside.
Masquers Club Dues & Fees were due by September 9th! Please bring your funds to Mrs. Lloyd asap.
The Masquers Club Dues are $10. Every member of Masquers who pays their dues will get a poster for the upcoming shows! These dues help to pay for the cost of advertising the shows. Checks should be made out to ORHS with Masquers Donation in the memo line. Please bring your dues to Dr. Pickel in room CS236.
Masquers Fees - We are trying something new to provide for Tech Week Meals and Concessions. Instead of parents bringing food items, we will collect donations to purchase the items needed. If you would prefer to donate food or home baked items for concessions, please contact our parent leads (Their information is below.) Feel free to donate more, if you feel so inclined. There may be some students who it would be a hardship to make this donation. Checks should be made out to ORHS with Masquers Donation in the memo line. If you are interested in auditioning for The Showcase or The Lightning Thief as a singer or musician, come to the Audition Workshop on Monday, September 19th! Sign up here! We will start out in the auditorium. Ben Rorabaugh will lead you through the audition process and then we will break into groups to discuss your audition piece with an adult musical coach. Bring your sheet music and accompaniment track if you have them. If you are having trouble choosing what to use to audition with or just want some feedback on the options you are considering, then working with an adult to narrow down the options and/or walk through the beginning of the audition process is a great place to start!
Auditions for the Showcase on Monday, September 26th
If you are interested in letting us get to know your musical talents before the the Spring Musical, then the Fall Showcase is the place to be! (HINT - it is a really good idea to participate in The Showcase if you are interested in auditioning for The Lightning Thief.)

- Singers - prepare a 2-3 minute musical theatre song for your audition. Have sheet music clearly marked. Have a few other songs you are interested in, too. If you want to accompany yourself, please come prepared to play.
- Musicians - if you are interested in playing in the band for The Lightning Thief you must come to THIS audition.
- If you want to perform a Musical Theatre Instrumental song, prepare the piece you are interested in playing.
- If it is a group number you can audition together.
- If you would like to play in the pit (if auditioning for both - you only have to do one audition)
- For the Showcase - just bring your favorite piece of music to play that shows the range of your skills on your instrument. When the line-up is established for the Showcase, we will schedule rehearsals for instrumental ensembles to support each piece, as needed.
- For the Musical - we need a drummer, a bass, and two guitars. We may try to layer in some other instruments. Please bring your favorite piece of music to play that shows the range of your skills on your instrument. You will probably be asked to sight-read as well. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on the band's conflicts and Mr. Rorabaugh's schedule.
- Dancers - prepare a dance to a musical theatre song to perform for us. Please have an accompaniment track to dance to. (If you have any trouble figuring it out, talk to Mrs. Lloyd or email Mr. Rorabaugh.) Have a few other songs you are interested in, too.
- Actors - if you are an actor, but want to grow in your vocal ability, come prepared to sing "Happy Birthday" and we will check your range. We will be doing some group numbers and you can audition to be a part of one of the group numbers.
BAND Auditions for The Lightning Thief!
