New Faces to Green Tree!

I am grateful and happy to be a part of the Green Tree family!
Lindsay Evans
Hello, my name is Lindsay Evans and I am the new ELL teacher! In addition to working with students at Green Tree, I am also at Crossroads and Discovery Ridge Elementary.
I was born and raised in St. Louis County. I attended the Mehlville School District as a student and then taught in the district for 14 years. This summer, we moved to Lake St. Louis to be closer to family.
My husband and I have four beautiful daughters. Addy is in third grade and Lucy is in first grade at Green Tree! I also have a three year old named Aubrey and a two year old named Lainey. Our black lab mix is named Morgan. We adopted her before having children so my husband is surrounded by women at home!
As a family, we enjoy going on walks, exploring new parks, visiting the zoo, and swimming in the pool or lake. Our newest adventure will be using a paddleboard this summer that my husband bought me for my birthday.
When I was a classroom teacher, I had a sixth grade student that was adopted and when he walked into my classroom, he had little English. As I got to know him, he not only brightened my day and made me laugh, he inspired me to become an ELL teacher. I have spent my last eight years teaching ELL students and I continue to learn from them every day as they learn from me. I look forward to making many good memories here at Green Tree!

We have two sons; Sean and John, and four grandchildren; Evan, Landon, Madeline and Reily. I also have three fur-babies who keep me busy at home. I am happy to be a part of GTE this year!

Nurses Notes
Is it a cold or the flu???
Both illnesses can make you miserable! But each is caused by different bugs that settle in different places.
FLU SYMPTOMS: Think F.A.C.T.S (fever, aches, chills, tiredness, sudden onset). Can also cause headache, sore throat and hacking cough. Young children may have GI symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea
COLD SYMPTOMS: Runny nose, sneezing and nasal congestion. Often a sore throat, mild cough, mild aches and/or fatigue. Young children may get a fever.
QUESTION: WHEN IS “THE FLU” NOT THE FLU? Answer: when it’s the “stomach flu” or “24-hour flu.” Severe bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, or gastroenteritis, can make you just as miserable as flu. But the viruses that trigger them are different. And they target your intestines rather than your airways.
Follow good health guidelines: eat right, exercise, and get plenty of rest to help boost your immunity to fight the effects of colds and flu. Wash hands frequently, do the elbow cough, and disinfect hot spots at school, work, and home.
The best way to protect your family from new influenza strains is to get vaccinated each year.
