ESS Update
Week ending March 26
Update from Mrs. Weber
What a nice week of weather this has been-Spring has sprung!
If you and your child stay after school to play on the playscape or on the field, please continue to follow the important mitigation strategies of mask wearing and social distancing while playing. We are working our hardest to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff during the school day. Your help with this would be greatly appreciated as well.
As much as I love dogs and puppies, they are not allowed out of the cars on school grounds. This is a district policy for everyone's safety-thank you for following this important rule.
If someone other than yourself is picking your child up at dismissal, please communicate the expectations of mask wearing, how to enter the school grounds and where they should be parking as well as having identification with them. It will ensure a smooth dismissal process.
Please be sure that if your child is a full time distance learner, you let us know by May 1st if they will be returning. May 3rd will be the last day any students may return to in person learning.
Students have the opportunity to have many mask breaks throughout the day. They are at the teacher's discretion when and where they take place, they are not scheduled like they were in the beginning of the year. Any time students are sitting silently working, eating or watching anything on the computer at their desks independently, they may pull their masks down. While students are engaged in conversations, their masks must be up and covering their nose and mouth. We continue to follow this important mitigation strategy along with social distancing and frequent hand washing/sanitizing. Please reach out to myself or Nurse Judy with any questions you may have.
PLEASE remember that ALL cars need to enter through Soundview and exit out Willoughby Road for morning drop off AND parent pick up. If everyone follows this request, the morning arrival and afternoon dismissal will be safe for everyone involved. Please cross only at the crosswalk, especially in the morning. It is for your safety as well as your child's. Feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions you may have about this policy.
Just a reminder-we continue to be a nut free school-all lunches, snacks and treats that are sent in must be nut free.
We are in the process of updating all of our permanent records. You may receive a call from the office secretaries asking for any paperwork we may be missing. We appreciate your help and cooperation with this important update
Have a great weekend-Mrs. Weber

Travel Guidelines for Distance Learning
Opting into full-distance learning (FDL) is not intended for students who are taking vacations or quarantining prior to traveling.
District policy states that teachers are not required to provide work for students who are choosing to take vacations/leaves during school days.
FDL is for families who are keeping their children home for COVID health reasons or who are in quarantine after an exposure or by choice.
If you are planning to travel outside of the contiguous 48 states, please follow the CDC guidelines posted at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.
Should you have any questions regarding required testing and possible quarantining after traveling, please contact Adrianna Collins at covid@sheltonpublicschools.org
