Principal's Message
Greetings Summit View Families and Partners,
As I write this, I am feeling overwhelmed with joy from connecting with so many of you at last week's Family Night at the Waukesha Public Library. It was so nice to share that experience with families, students, and staff. My family visits the library often as part of our usual Saturday morning routine (lately, my two year old son’s favorite books include characters from Frozen!) Now when we go, I will have the memory of enjoying that space with my SV family too.
Family events are special for many reasons. The time that you share with us, allows children to engage with our staff in new contexts and environments. This creates strong relationships that we lean on during the school day when we ask students to take risks in their learning and when we have conversations related to behavior situations. Additionally, family events support our vision that students will grow confidence in their unique abilities. When students see their families and teachers interact, they see a partnership that they can count on. Thank you for attending these events throughout the year!
This spring we are looking forward to a few new events for our students. Our first High Interest/ Career Day scheduled for April will be a time for our students to open their minds to possibilities post high school. We are excited to welcome many of our parents into the school as presenters on this day. If you are interested in joining as a presenter OR know someone who could join us, please reach out to me at gsheskey@waukesha.k12.wi.us.
Additionally, our school wide Arts Integration morning was rescheduled for later this month. This will be a first for us and we are looking forward to all students participating in this shared experience in their classrooms. Students will be exposed to the art form of Photography and then using that knowledge and skills, apply photography to a writing piece that they create!
Lastly, March is Music in Our School Month and with that, our appreciation for the music that Ms. Wanner and Mrs. Wehmeier bring into our school is BIG! From our beloved grade level concerts to the integration that is woven into our student’s school day, music brings our community together and this month we get to highlight all of those moments often!
Thank you for your continued partnership!
Spring Break!

Kindergarten Dance Workshops!
To help with the cost of this experience we are asking families to send in $2 with their student(s). The remaining cost is funded by our PTO! Money will be collected by classroom teachers beginning March 3rd. We are excited to offer this arts-related programming to your child(ren). This experience is the foundation to additional arts integration in their future here at Summit View!
Springing into Wellness: A Wellness Committee Update!
I would like to start out by saying thank you for everyone helping us collect plastic bags! We only need 64 more pounds! I know as a school we will be able to hit our goal before Spring Break!
Next, we did not receive enough recipes to create a full cookbook this year. I am working very hard on creating a Newsletter with recipes shared and Wellness-related ideas for Spring Break!
Right before Spring Break, the week of March 20- 24, we will be encouraging students to walk laps around the playground, each lap students will drop a popsicle stick so we can keep track of how many miles we walk as a school. Since this is going to be the week before Spring Break we are encouraging Families to walk to get us to some neat locations to visit!! (A google link will be available to keep track of miles at home) A flier will be coming home soon!
Lastly, if you would like to join in planning Eat A Rainbow Week (May 8-12) please reach out to me (Amber Schank) at Hautar03@gmail.com

SCHOOL REGISTRATION FEES
If you have not paid your registration fee of $85.00 yet this year, please do so as soon as possible. Fees are well overdue and subject to collections. You are allowed to make installment payments monthly if needed. You can send cash or make your check payable to School District of Waukesha, and send it in an envelope marked “Registration fees” with your child’s name and student ID #. You may write one check for multiple children, just indicate how much for each child. You can also pay fees online in Infinite Campus, after logging in, the directions are the same as adding lunch money. Feel free to pay as little as $5.00 on a payment plan.
*Please remember Board Policy is that students risk walking at graduation when fees are unpaid. Any iPad purchases and School Choice applications require all fees to be paid as well.
