Dean of Students message
On behalf of the Office of the Dean of Students, welcome to the Redhawk family! We are enjoying a beautiful, sunny summer in Seattle while eagerly awaiting your student’s arrival on-campus. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about the resources available to your student through the Office of the Dean of Students. We work in partnership with staff and faculty across campus to cultivate a safe, healthy, and engaged living and learning environment where students can thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.
Sometimes students face difficult circumstances in their personal or academic lives that become a potential barrier to their success. When faced with these challenges, our CARE Team offers help, support, and referrals to resources with the goal of helping students overcome barriers to their full participation in campus life. You can refer a student to the CARE Team by sending a brief email to care@seattleu.edu. We look forward to partnering with you to support your student’s success in the years to come.

New student retreat
New Student Retreat is an exciting opportunity for your student to get away from campus, to meet new people, and to mix reflection with fun, all in the beautiful setting of Camp Indianola across the Puget Sound. Students can expect to hear talks from fellow SU students, to spend time in personal reflection, and to build community through small group sharing. Students will be invited to reflect on themes like community, discernment, spirituality, and love for self and others. Plus, between opportunities for bonfires, hikes, games, and free time, there’ll be no shortage of fun!
In 2019, NSR will be offered November 1-3 and November 15-17. Scholarships are available to cover the $30 retreat fee as needed. Encourage your student to learn more about the retreat and to register here: https://www.seattleu.edu/campus-ministry/retreats/new-student-retreat/.
