Grade 9 Outdoor Education Camping Trips: Upcoming trips are: Grade 9- 2 Feb. 16 (7:30 am arrival to Coristine Hall to pack gear) - Feb 18 (return to SHS 3:30 - 4:00 pm); and Grade 9- 3 Feb. 20 (7:30 am arrival to Coristine Hall to pack gear) - Feb 22 (return to SHS 3:30 - 4:00 pm). The Re-Enrollment Form is due Friday, February 28. To secure your son’s enrollment for the 2020-2021 academic year please check off the appropriate box on the re-enrollment form and return this form to Ms. D. Dragone in the Business Office. It is crucial for the school’s planning that we have accurate and complete re-registration figures. The re-enrollment fee secures your son’s place for next year.

Need to Know
Parent volunteers broke all records this year for organizing an amazing week of tributes for Staff and Faculty Appreciation Week of February 4-7. A delicious and nourishing breakfast the first day, then a Speakeasy, where prefects served non-alcoholic cocktails to staff. The ever-popular staff lunch was especially festive, with an elaborate décor that paid tribute to the Oscars.The Candy Bar was postponed to Monday when Friday was declared a snow day. Everyone on staff is amazed and grateful for this overwhelming show of appreciation. Read more and see photos

At the Canadian Ski Marathon, a two-day event, this past weekend with over 1400 participants, Alexis Delplace 2020 of only four Juniors attempting Coureur de Bois Gold category, completed 80 km Day 1, sleeping out in –28 C and skiing Day 2 temperatures dipping to –37 C to complete 100 of 160 km. Oliver Delplace 2022 of seven Juniors attempting Coureur de Bois Silver, carried his minimum 5 Kg pack over the full distance in admirable time, braving the extreme cold to earn his Silver medal.
Jonathan Emile 2003, a musician and Selwyn House Old Boy who visited the school to give a unique presentation for Black History Month, captivated students from Grades 3-11 on Feb. 5. Read more
Advanced Placement Exams: Grade 11 students who are planning to attend prep school may be interested in taking AP (Advanced Placement) exams in the spring. Parents who wish to register their sons for an AP exam may do so by emailing Ms. Palko no later than March 1.

Information Session for Global Round of World Scholar's Cup Monday, February 17 @ 5:00

Leadership Opportunities
2020-21 Prefect and House Head Applications: Applications have been emailed to the current Grade 9 and 10 students for those interested in becoming House Heads or Prefects next year. The deadline to submit completed applications to Mrs. Powers is March 17 at 3:00 p.m. Good luck to all the applicants!
Now is the time to consider applying to three upcoming conferences in 2020: the Global Student Leadership Summit, the CAIS Student Leadership Conference, and the Canadian Student Leadership Conference. These conferences are open to current senior school students (Grades 9-11), though you must check to see which conference(s) pertain to your grade level.
