REMINDER---Fall Picture Day--Tomorrow--Tuesday, October 13
Picture forms were sent home in family folders last week and are attached in this email.
Community Morning Meeting--You don't want to miss it!
If you drive your child to school please arrive by 8:30. This will allow you time to get through the drop off line and allow your child a chance to settle in before the 8:45 bell. Thank you for your help in creating a smooth opening to each school day.
At 8:50 the second bell rings and our instructional day has begun. If you pull up to the drop off location after the 8:50 bell has rung you will be asked to go inside and sign your child in late. If we are still at the Morning Meeting, please send your child to join us before going inside. Thank you.
Volunteer During Recess or Lunch? Come on in!
Supporting during lunch would involve you walking around the room, checking in with each table, answering questions, helping students open various containers, and problem solving typical lunch issues.
Supporting during recess would involve moving around the playground space, redirecting students to our playground expectations, refereeing a game, and problem solving typical playground issues.
Our kindergarten, first and second graders have lunch from 11:45-12:15 and enrichment/recess from 12:15-12:45.
Our third, fourth and fifth graders eat lunch from 12:30-1:00 and have enrichment/recess from 1:00-1:30.
Support as of Today:
Mrs. McGehearty--Monday Recess--12:15-12:45
Mrs. Caisse--Tuesday Recess-12:15-12:45
Many other volunteers indicated they are available for lunch or recess duty. If that is you, thank you! Please email me to let me know which time works best for you. Thank you in advance for your support!
Field Trip Forms--Please return!
While we have received the forms from many students we are still waiting for a few more. Some families forgot to sign the second page of the permission slip and those forms have been sent back too. Forms with "Second Notice" have gone out so check your child's backpack. Thank you!
The trip is $15.00 per student. If the cost is a financial hardship, please feel free to email or call Mrs. Dorsey at jdorsey@smithfield-ps.org or 231-6652. We do not want any family to feel stressed over the cost and we want all of our LaPerche students to attend this fantastic live theater performance.
Thursday, October 22--PINK OUT DAY in Honor of...
Lead by our 5th graders, LaPerche Elementary is holding a PINK OUT day on Thursday, October 22 in honor of Ms. Kim. Every person at LaPerche is encouraged to wear as much pink as possible to support Ms. Kim and all people battling breast cancer, breast cancer survivors and those who we have lost to this terrible disease.
The 5th graders will be selling "Making Strides for Breast Cancer" forms for $1.00. Every LaPerche student is encouraged to earn $1.00 by doing chores around the house to use to purchase a form. On the form students can write the name of any person or family member who they are supporting with their donation. The 5th graders will post the cards around the school to show support for this worthy cause.
If you would like to contribute please make all checks out to Making Strides against Breast Cancer or to The American Cancer Society. Thank you in advance for your support! All money collected will be donated to one of the two organizations.
Recently, 5th graders had the pleasure of having a special guest, Dianne Fonseca, visit with them during health class to discuss cancer and how to prevent it. Dianne is a cancer survivor. If your child is in grade 5 please ask your him/her all about the discussion; especially how we can help those who have cancer and what we can do to prevent it from happening.
Making Strides cards will be in sale starting tomorrow!
Email or Call Mrs. Dorsey
Enjoy the week--Julie
