Coweta's Professional Learning
Sept. 2017
School and District Improvement and Professional Learning Communities
The graphic below shows each of the five systems and the continuous process that is involved. As we participate in professional learning communities across our district, we will be involved in aspects of the five systems as we grow as educators. This edition of the professional learning newsletter highlights the Coherent Instructional System because it deals directly with what occurs in our classrooms on a daily basis. Coherent Instructional System is the major system of the improvement process that guides the "what" and "how" of instruction. The system includes processes that:
- Plan for quality instruction
- Deliver quality instruction
- Monitor student progress
- Refine the instructional system.

PBIS - Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
Coweta County will have 29 PBIS schools as of fall 2017. PBIS is a research-based framework that helps to support effective learning environments for students. This framework has been proven to have a positive effect on academic performance, school attendance and student behavior.
