Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
We have sure enjoyed having all of the children back at school! They are excited to see their friends, curious about what they will be learning this year, and making connections with their classroom communities.
We look forward to seeing parents/guardians this evening for our Curriculum Night. The PTC and I will be sharing some important information in the gym at 6:30. Teachers will begin their presentation in their classrooms at 7:05 with a repeat presentation at 7:35. This allows families with more than one student to attend both presentations. Our evening concludes at 8:00pm.
Curriculum Night is intended for parents/guardians to receive information from teachers. Please try to make arrangements for students and siblings to stay home. If you are not able to make other arrangements, you are welcome to bring your students.
I have some important safety information to share:
Stop Signs in our Parking Lot
We have two stop signs - one on the north side of our building just prior to the bus lane and one near the fire gate as you drive out of our main visitor parking lot. All vehicles must stop at both stop signs at all times of day. Thank you for following traffic laws on our campus.
Please have a conversation with your student about riding the bus:
· Stay seated and face forward
· Talk quietly
· Listen to the bus driver
· Always cross the street in front of the bus, never behind the bus
· If a person is supposed to meet you at the bus stop and they are not there, do not get off the bus. Tell the driver and they will help you.
· All Kindergarten students: Sit in the first two rows of the bus
Morning Bus Riders
All students exit the buses and go directly to the playground or enter the building through the library doors.
Bus Lane Safety
The bus lanes are closed to cars, pedestrians and bicycles before school from 8:00-8:45 and after school from 2:45-3:30. Please be sure to drive slowly through the outer lanes of the parking lot to drop your student off at the front entrance. If you are picking up your student from the lobby area, do not walk through the bus lanes. Instead, please park near our main entrance.
Sidewalk Safety
Please be aware that our buses have large mirrors that hang over the edge of the curb or sidewalk. When walking on our sidewalks, please walk near the edge furthest from the driveway and bus lane. Also, do not walk on or near any curbs. Our bus drivers are watching carefully for all pedestrians but need your assistance to keep everyone safe.
Please do not cross NW 143rd except at a stop light
If you live on the west side of NW 143rd, please do not walk across the road. This road is very dangerous. Please cross at intersections with stop lights. All students living on the west side of 143rd receive bus service. I highly encourage you to have your students ride a bus to school as this is the safest option.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe! We are looking forward to a fabulous year!

PE News from Mr. D
I hope you all enjoyed summer break with your family and are looking forward to the upcoming school year. This is my 30th year teaching PE at Terra Linda and am looking forward to another year teaching your kids to be active.
My goal this year are to have your student develop good fitness habits through a variety of activities, enhance their physical skills, and handle adversity and or social situations in a positive manner.
In order for your student to perform at their best, please make sure they are wearing appropriate attire. Students need to wear rubber soled shoes that would allow them to run side to side without shoes falling off. If your student is wearing a skirt or dress please make sure they are wearing shorts underneath.
If your student has any limitations that prevent them from performing in PE, please let me know. The best way to contact me is by email at doug_dalebroux@beaverton.k12.or.us.
I am looking forward to getting to know and encourage your student throughout the year.
