Age Level: All ages
Families are invited to celebrate the success of their children reading and enjoying summer programs at the Glocester libraries. There will be field day games for everyone to enjoy. We will have cold treats to cool you down and Rhode Island's iconic party pizza to fill you up!
Outdoor Concert with Poor Man's Gibson
Saturday, August 5, 4 p.m., Pavilion at Kent Field in Chepachet
Poor Man"s Gibson is an acoustic duo that plays a variety of tunes, including rock, folk, and country. Their repertoire spans several decades and includes songs by Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles, James Taylor, Roy Orbison, and the Grateful Dead. They have played in locations across Rhode Island and were recently booked at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Come and enjoy Chepachet's brand new Pavilion while listening to some cool tunes.
Children Programs
Patrons can register online at glocesterlibraries.org using a computer, a hand-held device, or their cell phones and will receive email confirmation of their registration.
Make It, Take It Mondays
Tuesday and Wednesday, August 1 and August 2, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 5 years old and up *Younger children may require parental assistance.
Children are invited to "drop in" to the Glocester Manton Children's Room for a weekly "Build a Better World" craft. There will be a new craft each Monday, available during library hours through Friday.
Tot Lot Tuesdays
Tuesday, August 1, 10:30 a.m., Harmony Library Playground
Age Level: 1-3 years, with caregivers
Join us for a condensed version of Storytime, followed by playground fun! Feel free to bring your picnic lunches and stay as long as you'd like. *Note: We will read indoors in inclement weather.
Tuesday, August 1, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 4-7 years old
Each week, a special person from Glocester will read a book and do an activity with the children.

Playdoh Pals
Wednesday, August 2, 10 a.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: 2-5 years old
Children will be encouraged to explore using different colors of Playdoh and Playdoh utensils. Different home-made Playdoh recipes will be made in our kitchen and discussed. Playdoh is a fun way to entertain children, but it is also a great way to build fine motor skills that will enable children to use writing utensils.
Community Crafters
Wednesday, August 2, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 8-12
Crafters from the Glocester community will share a craft each week, from cooking to painting!
- August 2, Flip flop decoration with Michelle Miranda, Children's Librarian, using fabric, sequins, and button.

Zombie Survival Course
Thursday, August 3, 3 p.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: Ages 10 and up
Do you have the skills to survive a zombie apocalypse? Find out, as zombie expert extraordinaire Matthew Gabriel demonstrates basic first aid skills, how and where to build a camp and most importantly, how to use a (soft-tip, designed for indoor use) crossbow.

Summer Drawing Challenge
Ends September 21, submit to Glocester Manton Library
If you like to draw and want to improve your skills, or if you want to reduce your stress levels, take the Summer Drawing Challenge. During the 93 days of summer, you are asked to complete 30 drawings/sketches from a list of 50 prompts. When you finish, you will receive an artist grade drawing pad, pencils, pen, and kneaded eraser.
Glocester Libraries’ Walking Club
Wednesday, August 2, 8 a.m., Steere Hill Conservation Area
The walk will range from 45 minutes to one hour. If you love to walk but hate going alone, this is a great opportunity to meet fellow walking enthusiasts and discover new places to go. Note: Don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent. Trails of this type typically feature sections with rocks, stumps, and tree roots to maneuver.
All about Solar Eclipses
Tuesday, August 8, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
In anticipation of the August 21 total solar eclipse, the first visible one in the U.S. in decades, enjoy a presentation on eclipses by Francine Jackson of Skyscrapers, the Amateur Astronomical Society of Rhode Island. Francine will also instruct the audience on how to view eclipses safely.

Sign up for instruction in the basics of computer use, email, and Internet searching. If you want to work on Microsoft Office 2013 or 2016, including Word, PowerPoint, or basic Excel, let us know when you register.
