Classroom Spotlight - 3rd Grade Litracy
During the month of January the third graders are focused on learning about what forms and shapes identities through reading biographies. We’ve enjoyed some together as a class, some in small groups, and some on our own. As a class we’ve enjoyed learning about Sonia Sotomayor, Albert Einstein, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and Lonnie Johnson (the inventor of the Super Soaker water gun!)

Waukesha Police Department Adopt A School
The Adopt a School program provides each elementary school a police officer that acts as a resource in the event that guidance is needed, reviews and provides support around the school safety plans and is an occasional presence in schools.
Hadfield is assigned Officer James Wolbert. Officer Wolbert plans to be an occasional visitor to Hadfield and is looking forward to meeting and interacting with our students and families.
If you see Officer Wolbert around, please welcome him to Hadfield.

Digital Citizenship - February
This month’s Digital Citizenship focus is on Intellectual Property and Fair Use. As parents, you teach your children not to take away someone else’s things; that’s called stealing. Students know that they can’t copy someone else’s homework and turn it in as their own; that’s cheating. We also need to teach our children not to take someone else’s ideas, images or information, called intellectual property, from the internet, too, without getting permission, or giving credit to the person or organization.
Thank you for taking time to discuss this topic with your students.
