St. Stan Star
March 4th, 2021
Happy Thursday
The turn in the weather has been such a blessing to teachers and students!
As we near the time of year that we dismissed last year, we are so thankful to have had such a full and productive year!
Thank You: The staff at St. Stan’s would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Bethany Herrbold for her dedication to St. Stanislaus. Mrs. Herrbold has been the long-term sub in 8th-grade. Mrs. Herrbold said yes to this position in a time of uncertainty with COVID and the unknown of online learning. We will miss seeing Mrs. Herrbold each day. While we say good-bye to one friend, we welcome back another. We are thrilled that Mrs. Lueckenotte is returning for the fourth quarter!
Carline: COVID has allowed more families to work from home, which has increased the number of families picking students up at the end of the day (versus ASC or using the bus). Our car rider volume has increased significantly. In order to lessen traffic on Highway W, we are creating a third lane for car traffic from 2-3 p.m. Monday-Friday. The third lane will run horizontally with the church and rectory. Cars will pull up in the third lane and merge into the parking lot. The new lane will take effect on Monday, March 15th. Cones will be set up marking the third lane. The parking spots that face the rectory and church will be closed from 2-3 p.m. each weekday. Thank you for helping to ensure Highway W remains safe and clear. We are hopeful this won’t create an inconvenience. We are so appreciative of everyone for helping us to ease traffic along the highway. The third lane will begin directly in front of the sidewalk that leads to the front doors of the church.
Blessed: We are so blessed! We have received two additional water bottle filling stations! A huge thank you to Don Bernskoetter Plumbing and Jim and Mary Ann Burns for their time and donation! A third family, who wishes to remain anonymous, was also involved in donating one of the stations. The new filling stations were placed in the pre-k/kindergarten area and the junior high section. The generosity of families and businesses in this area is top-notch!
First Communion: What an exciting weekend for our 2nd-grade students! Saturday is First Communion. Please pray for these young people as they celebrate such a beautiful Sacrament in the Catholic Chuch! Thank you to Mrs. Bolzenius and Father Medina for all of their hard work!
Fish Fry: Just a reminder, this Friday is the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry!!! Come support this great event!
Self-Study: I will be taking part in a self-study in Frankenstein most of the week (8th-11th).
COVID VACCINE CLINIC UPDATE: Please take note; there will be no school on Friday, March 19th or Friday, April 9th. The St. Stanislaus staff is taking part in a vaccination clinic. Two dates are required for the two-step vaccine process. The Diocese has issued a dispensation for the Cole County Catholic Schools for the two-day process with this process. This means that we will NOT be required to make up these days. Having said this, barring weather issues, we will dismiss for the year on Wednesday, May 19th at 12:30 p.m. Again, there will be NO school on March 19th and April 9th.
Blessings and prayers during this time of Lent!
Mrs. Angie Shelangoski
