Eisenhower Fly-er
November 5, 2017
Message from the Principal
We are looking forward to this up-coming week as it will give us an opportunity to meet with many parents during Parent/Teacher conferences! This is an excellent time to gain feedback on your child’s progress and share information. If you have not yet scheduled a conference, please contact Mrs. Schinharl at 419.836.8498, extension 2403.
All conferences will be held in the cafeteria. This will allow us to have Specials teachers, our guidance counselor, myself, and other staff members join conferences. It will be imperative that we keep to our 15 minute scheduled conference times. If, at the end of the scheduled conference time, you need more communication, please set up an additional time with the teacher or teachers with whom you need to speak.
We would like you to bring your child with you to conferences. He/she will start at a table in the middle of the cafeteria where there will be something for him/her to do. This will allow parents and teachers time to identify suggestions for continued success or for new success. Students will then be brought into the conversation to implement the plan that was devised.
Conferences are a great time to clarify expectations, determine means to meet or exceed expectations, and to celebrate what is going well.
Please remember that we are open to speaking with you about the success of your child at times outside of Parent/Teacher conferences. Communication is key to the success of our children.
Please remember that there is no school for students on Monday, November 6th or Tuesday, November 7th. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Tim Holcombe
Band Information
The 6th grade band is in full swing. The brass and percussion instruments meet on Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday while the woodwinds meet on Thursday, Friday, and every other Wednesday. We currently have over 70 members in the 6th grade band and are getting ready to perform at our Christmas Concert on December 13th.
We will be starting 5th grade band at the beginning of 2nd Quarter on Monday, October 24th. Each group will meet a total of two to three days a week during Connections, not in the mornings. We will use the following 5th Grade Band schedule for 2nd Quarter:

Congratulations, also, to all those students who applied for a Student Council position, but did not win this year. It takes courage, self-confidence, a willingness to step up, and an openness to trying new things when you put your name into any race.
We are thankful for all of our students who take the opportunity to participate in the many opportunities we have.

Transition from Parties to Celebrations
As we continue to form our identity at Eisenhower, we keep our focus on being a transitional building. In the elementary, it is customary to have parties at different times throughout the year. We will have four Celebrations at Eisenhower this year and they will be held during our Connections period. On October 31st, we had our Fall Celebration. The Celebration is a time for teachers to provide fun activities for students and a time for students to be able to relax and enjoy their teacher and classmates in more of an informal setting. We enjoyed the first celebration!
