7th Grade Students - Required Vaccinations
You should have received a non-compliancy letter this week if your student is missing required vaccinations. You will continue to get notifications such as e-mails and calls until the nurse receives documentation of required vaccination. Please check with your physician to see if your student has already received the missing vaccinations and provide documentation to the school nurse. Monday, October 11, 2021 is the due date for required vaccinations. Your student may be excluded from school if documentation of vaccinations is not received by due date.
From the Nurse
Allergy season continues! The nurse’s office doesn’t supply medication for seasonal allergies. Please have your student take allergy medication at home. There are several over-the-counter medications available that work 24 hours and there are over-the-counter-eye drops made especially for allergies.
Please report symptoms when reporting an absence due to illness
Covid
If your student is exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 or has been exposed to a test positive of Covid-19 you will receive specific instructions for your student.
Information concerning symptomatic individuals in the school setting can be found by visiting the following link:
https://www.usd232.org/Page/8472
https://www.usd232.org/Domain/4076
Students with at least one primary symptom OR two or more secondary symptoms are assumed to have COVID-19 and should be excluded from school and school-related activities and isolate at home. Fever is considered a secondary symptom in children.
Student Primary Symptoms (at least one)
New cough • Difficulty breathing • Loss of taste/smell
Student Secondary Symptoms (at least two)
Extreme fatigue • Fever (≥100 degrees Fahrenheit) or chills • Congestion/runny nose • Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea • Sore throat • Headache • Muscle or body aches
Students who exhibit one primary symptom OR two or more secondary symptoms and are not tested or test positive for COVID-19 should remain out of school and all school-related activities for 10 days after their symptoms began AND 24 hours after their fever (if present) has resolved without the aid of medication AND their initial symptoms have improved.
If a student is tested for COVID-19 and is negative, they can return to school 24 hours after their symptoms improve. If a physician indicates the symptoms are due to a non-infectious diagnosis (e.g., allergies, asthma), the child can be readmitted to school prior to their symptoms resolving. If a child has only one secondary symptom, the individual should be excluded for 24 hours after their symptom improves.
Covid-19 Vaccinations
The Covid-19 Vaccination is optional at this time. You are not required to provide proof of vaccination. If you would like to have the Covid-19 vaccination to be included in your students school vaccination records, please provide documentation from your health care provider or a copy (front and back) of the Covid-19 Vaccination card.
From the Counselors
This week was Start with Hello Week at MT! A special thank you to the Volleyball team, 8th Grade Band, Publications/Yearbook Club, Cheerleaders and Student Council for providing a warm welcome to the start of each school day. Another exciting thing this week was our Random Act of Kindness Raffle! Students were able to nominate each other to be entered in to a drawing for doing random acts of kindness. As of Thursday morning we had 86 submissions.
We hope your family has a fun and relaxing weekend! As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to counselors with any questions or concerns.
