St. Stan Star
April 5, 2017
From the Principal's desk
April is another busy and exciting month for school! The Technology Dinner Auction will soon be completed. Many thanks to all involved no matter how small or how large. The school community appreciates your time, talent, and treasure. This event is a great testament to our theme “united in heart”. Just a reminder that mass on Saturday evening is at 4:00 p.m. Time change is due to the Technology Dinner Auction.
Did you know that it is becoming an Easter tradition for the Blair Oaks after school program to unite with the St. Stanislaus School After School Program? Students at Blair Oaks sponsor an Easter egg hunt for the Early Childhood and Kindergarten students on our playground. This event will happen on Monday, April 10, after school. What a beautiful way to be “united in heart” in this community effort.
School will be dismissed for Holy Thursday, April 13, and Good Friday, April 14. School will NOT be in session the week of April 17-April 21. The National Catholic Schools Educational Association (NCEA) Conference is being held in St. Louis this year. The bishop requested that Catholic schools close to allow teachers and administrators to attend the convention. All of St. Stanislaus School teachers will be attending the
conference and staying in St. Louis for most of the week. The convention was last held in St. Louis fourteen years ago. Expenses for this event are being covered by the generosity of donations from a parish member and the diocese. In addition, the school will be using some of its Title II funds for professional development. The faculty and I are thankful for this tremendous opportunity to join with thousands of Catholic educators from all over the world to celebrate liturgies and to learn more about delivering quality Catholic education to our community.
At the end of April we will celebrate Grandparents Day. This will take place on Friday, April 28th and begin with a specially planned mass by our fifth grade and kindergarten classes. Following the mass, there will be refreshments and a special assembly for students and grandparents. Activities should be completed by 10:00 a.m. Students will be expected to stay the remainder of the day.
Last week, one of our students, Jacie Buschjost (7th Grade) took a first place ribbon at the diocesan science fair. Congratulations to her and the three other students whose projects were selected to represent our school at the diocesan level: Alyssa Gipe, Josie Heckenkamp, and Eli Bruemmer.
The St. Stanislaus School Archery teams have certainly brought honor and glory to our school finishing second at the state competition and first at a recent local 3-D shoot. There have been several of our students taking the top honors in individual scores. It was wonderful to see our school and students recognized in a recent article of the News Tribune (April 2). Congratulations to our families and coaches for dedication and commitment to this sport.
At the Spelling Bee on Tuesday, April 4, St. Stanislaus School took the first place trophy. Congratulations to these students and their supervising teacher, Mrs. Andrews.
As always, it is a great day in the kingdom of God here at St. Stanislaus School!
