PRAIRIE POST
May 21, 2021
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Friends & Families,
We have some bittersweet news to share about two of our staff members. As you probably read via email earlier this week, Vicki Anderson, our secretary, is retiring at the end of this year. Vicki plans on enjoying time at her lake home with her family once she wraps things up here! Rhonda Hanson, one of our education assistants, is also retiring at the end of this school year. Rhonda is expecting a grandbaby this fall, so she will be transitioning to a babysitter role that she is very excited about! Together, Vicki and Rhonda have served children and our community for over 50 years! We are sad to see them go, but we are so excited for them to enjoy their next adventures! Please join me in wishing Rhonda Hanson and Vicki Anderson our best wishes on their retirements!
I am excited to announce that we do have a new secretary hired! Her name is Maura Eyl. Maura is currently a school counselor at Nathan Hale High School. Maura brings a background in student services, strengths in organization and communication, and a warm, welcoming demeanor. I look forward to having the opportunity to introduce Maura to the Prairie community in person toward the end of summer!
We are Team Prairie!
We are stronger together!

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.
AMAZON SMILE: Our PTA also participates in the Amazon Smile program. Connect your Amazon purchases to automatically donate a percentage of your purchase back to Prairie Elementary. Sign up at: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/39-1461747
SCRIP GIFT CARDS: While e-gift cards in your wallet are convenient, you now have the option to order physical gift cards delivered directly to your home for all your gifting needs through the Raise Right/Shop with Scrip fundraising program.
