A letter from Dr. Christopher Nagy, Superintendent of Schools
June 2017
Dear BCIT Community,
As we approach the end of the school year, we congratulate those students who will be graduating and wish them great success in their new endeavors, be it to further their education, enter the workforce, enter military service, or pursue a postsecondary certification.
Many of our graduates have already earned a number of college credits and have earned an industry credential to position them to enter the workforce immediately, or at least during the summer or winter breaks, when in college. We are very proud of our graduates who leave us with collective scholarships of more than $2 million.
For our underclassmen, we wish you a great summer and ask that you take advantage of opportunities to read and complete your summer assignments. We are firm believers in the words of Dr. Seuss: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” We thank our parents for the untiring support and gift of your children and wish all of you a restful summer.
Dr. Christopher Nagy
Superintendent of Schools

A note from the BCIT Foundation
The BCIT Foundation is proud to announce Lockheed Martin will provide funding to offset costs of the Medford Robotics Club and to enhance the new Drone Initiative at both campuses.
Lockheed is the primary sponsor of the Medford Robotics Club, which has seen a steady increase in student involvement since forming in 2012. The grant will supplement school funding and club fundraising, serving as an important factor in the team’s ability to pay competition fees and replace consumable supplies including structural material, motors, wires and game elements.
Lockheed will also support the new Drone Initiative that is part of the Pre-Engineering program. Specifically, the donation will cover costs of some supplies that can be used with a 3D printer to create drone frames. The grant will also support programmable boards for the drones and objects like flags and pool noodles for an obstacle course where students can test drones. Lockheed Martin channels much of its grant-giving to STEM-based instruction, and the company has nearly tripled its donations to BCIT in the past four years.
The BCIT Foundation awarded scholarships and book awards to several graduates to recognize classroom success, community service, trade dedication, and military commitment. Visit the Foundation's webpage to learn about these outstanding examples of BCIT's Class of 2017.
