The Our House committee invites you to a free screening of Selma in honour of Black History Month. Selma tells the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his followers as they marched from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in their fight for suffrage. This movie night will be Friday, February 7 for Grades 6 - 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rossy Agora.
Red Cross Babysitting Courses offered this spring: Once again we’ve partnered with ECS (Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School) to host this certification course on two separate occasions during the month of April 2020. This 8-hour course for students in Grades 7-9 teaches first aid skills, leadership and professional conduct as a leader of young people in any capacity (babysitting, day camps, sports teams, etc.), and is also a great addition to a young person’s CV. The cost to attend either course is $70 (non-refundable after March 23), which will be billed to you. The deadline to register is Friday, March 23. For more details regarding the course content, please review the attached information and consult this website. To register your son, please email Ms. Beech with the course date you prefer:
Option 1: 1 x 8 hour session on Saturday, April 4, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Selwyn House School
Option 2: 1 x 8 hour session on Saturday, April 18, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at ECS
On Thursday, February 20, Grade 8 students will be competing in a Scholastic Challenge, an online quiz testing general knowledge of Grade 8 students nation-wide. Students are expected in their period 1 classrooms by 8:10 a.m. that day with their computer and charger.Top scorers will be announced at the graduation in June. Check out the website for demo questions and more info. A practice quiz will be made available to students via E-nouncements next week.
2020-2021 Parent Academic Information Evening on Tuesday, March 31 @ 7:00 pm in Rossy Agora. This presentation is for parents of students currently in Grade 8. Parents will hear about Grade 9 course option selections for 2020-2021. Students are not required to attend - we have organized student presentations during the school week. For more information contact Ms. Brenda Montgomery (montgomeryb@selwyn.ca).
