Titans' Times
Week of Oct. 31 - Nov. 4, 2022
Legal School is a Christ-centered community committed to nurturing lifelong learners, leaders, and global citizens while instilling virtues in the lives of our students.
Halloween Fun!
Our JH students from StuCo have been busy all week and especially Friday afternoon setting up for the Halloween Carnival on Monday for the Titans! Some of the many activities include Haunted House, Face Painting, Mission Impossible, Carnival Games: hockey shoot-out, pumpkin bowling, jousting, basketball, and spider targets, plus so much more! The students have a chance to collect candy after participating in various activities.
ALL JH students will be leading the activities and helping the younger students as they go around the stations. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for Junior High students.
We look forward to having a wonderful time and all students are excited to have this annual event back for Halloween this year! Punch cards for $2.50 and $5.00 can still be bought on Monday morning.
Have a "spooktacular" week!

Turning Worry into “I Wonder”
Worrying from time to time is a normal part of life. But when worrying becomes a continuous habit, it can have serious impacts on your child and their well-being. A strategy to help your child with their feelings of worry is to turn their worries into “I wonder” statements. This can benefit their mental and physical health and guide them to become more resilient.
Check out Big Life Journal’s technique on teaching your child to turn their worry into “I wonder” in the article below:

Christmas Trees Wanted
As December draws near, our decorating committee is looking for some more trees that could replace the well-used ones that they have been using. They are looking for a minimum of 7-foot artificial trees. Please contact Cathy Proulx – 780-961-4180, if you are able to assist with this.
Book of Remembrance for All Souls Day- Nov.2nd:
Please send in a picture or eulogy card or prayer to add to our "Legal Titans Book of Remembrance".
We also will be displaying all the pictures handed in so we can all take a moment to reflect on and commemorate our loved ones who have passed. Pictures will be put in picture frames and afterward will be added to our book of Remembrance.
SPRR - DQ October Luncheon Awards
This is a fun and engaging way to recognize our students for following the school-wide expectations and for being positive contributors to the school community!
Wooden Playground Removal
The wooden playground structure is being removed this weekend due to the many safety deficiencies of the playground structure. It has been decided that it is removed before the ground freezes to keep our students safe. The current wooden wall (the area around the playground) will remain and the students will be able to play in the sand area. We have some items for the students to play and dig in the sand and still keep them busy during recess break. On Friday afternoon we took one final school photo of the old structure before it was removed.
Now more than ever we appreciate the fundraising efforts of FOLSS to raise funds for the new school playground.
Farewell Mrs. Peet - LUNCHHOUR Supervisor EXTRAORDINAIRE!

- Thursday all-day plus from 3:45 - 6:45 pm (during parent-teacher interviews)

Fall Parent Teacher Interviews
Parents check your emails for notifications with the booking link for the interviews which will be held next week. This link will allow you access to book interviews until November 1st at 9:00 am. https://www.schoolinterviews.ca/code/7dm9a
In order to help parents prepare for the interview process to make the interviews a purposeful experience check out the interview tips below.
- Talk to your child about school before the interview. Ask how he/she feels about his/her learning. Ask how your child how the teacher can help to meet his/her learning goals. Bring this information to the interview.
Go over schoolwork. Get an idea of what the curriculum is like the level your child is working at, and areas where he/she is struggling and is doing well.
Decide what you want to know. Make a list of what you want to know before you go into the interview. You can even prepare questions ahead of time if it will make you feel more at ease. Knowing what you want to know and writing it down helps you get the information you need.
Be open and honest. Feel free to add your own observations about your child’s behaviour, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Find out what your child is learning. Ask curriculum questions, and find out what your child has learned and what is coming up in the term ahead. Know the skills your child will need to be successful in the term ahead (i.e. knowing how to multiply and divide fractions).
Ask about strengths and weaknesses and possible problems. Find out about problems before they happen. Knowing what triggers your child will help him/her build strategies to deal with the problem before it is bigger.
How can we work together? Provide the teacher with significant home information and ask what you can do at home to help your child. Make a commitment to support your child by monitoring homework, and helping them to learn specific skills.
