Operation Gratitude
Wednesday, November 1 through Friday, November 10, library hours, Glocester Manton Library and Harmony Library
Bring your excess Halloween candy to the library anytime between November 1-10 and we will send it to Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude is a non-profit organization that sends care packages to service members overseas. Materials will be provided for children to decorate cards to express their gratitude to service members.
The Nutcracker – Story and Performance by Heritage Ballet
Wednesday, November 1, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Get into the holiday spirit as Heritage Ballet performers read the iconic story of the Nutcracker. The characters will be brought to life as Heritage Ballet dancers perform an excerpt from The Nutcracker. After the performance, children will be invited to perform some ballet steps with the dancers.
Children Programs
Wednesday, November 1 through Thursday, November 30, during library hours
Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: Ages 3 and up (Children under 5 years old may need parental assistance.) Children, ages 3 and up, are invited to "drop in" to the Glocester Manton Library Children's Room during the month of November for a fun craft they can make and take home. Crafts will be available during library hours and will rotate on a bimonthly schedule.
Creative Dance Community Series
Wednesday, November 1 through January 31, (no class – November 22, 29, December 20 and 27), Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 4-5 year olds
Spots are still available for this free class in the basics of ballet with a healthy mix of creative dance. This class is offered by the well-known Heritage Ballet of Lincoln.
Astronaut for a Day
Monday, November 20, 5 p.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: 4 years old and up
What is life like in space? Come find out as Solar Systems Ambassador Jamie Orsini shows children what it is like to be an astronaut. There will be a moon rock observation station, underwater shuttle repair station, and fun astronaut crafts.
Pie Please!
Tuesday, November 21, 5 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: Grades 2-5 Children are invited to learn how to make their very own homemade pies. Each child will make their own filling, learn how to roll out their own pie crust, and put it all together for their own pie masterpiece to take home and bake for Thanksgiving.
Family Gingerbread House Contest
Tuesday, December 12, 6 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: All Ages
Families are invited to create a gingerbread house masterpiece to take home for the holidays. Pictures will be taken of each project and posted in the library for viewing and voting. The winning family will win a Holiday Gift Basket. This contest is limited to 15 families.
Teen/Adult Program
Monday, November 27, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: Adults and older teens (14 years old and up)
Learn how to craft a beautiful macrame bracelet accented with beads. With the holidays approaching, it's the perfect time to make a handcrafted gift for someone on your list - or for yourself! Local artist Bonnie Luther will leader this workshop. Attendance is limited to 10 people and advance registration is absolutely required. There is a $5 materials' fee.

Fearless Art Club
Wednesday, November 1 and November 8, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
In November, the club will explore the art of block printing. Each member will design, carve, and print their own design. This is a great opportunity to create unique holiday greeting cards.
Ukulele Workshop
Wednesday, November 1 and November 8, 6 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Have you ever wanted to play an instrument? If so, learn to play the ukulele! Musician Tripp Hutchinson is leading a four workshop series for beginners. Ukuleles will not be provided, but a list of sources for good entry level ukuleles will be available at the library. The cost for each class in the series is $5.This program is supported in part by the Friends of the Glocester Manton Library.
Cookbook Club
Monday, November 6, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
This month's cookbook is One Potato, Two Potato: 300 Recipes from Simple to Elegant: Appetizers, Main Dishes, Side Dishes and More by Roy Finamore. This is how the club works: every month, pick up a copy of that month's cookbook selection at the Harmony Library. Choose a recipe to make and prepare it for the next month's meeting. We will sample each other's dishes and discuss our cooking experiences. If you would like to join the Cookbook Club, register here and then drop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.
New Movie Matinee
Tuesday, November 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
The New Movie Matinee returns in November! Grab a snack and enjoy a newly released movie on the big screen. The library shows new movies two to three times monthly depending on DVD release dates. The movies include:

History of Chepachet
Tuesday, November 7, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Come to the Harmony Library to see the meticulous model of the village of Chepachet in 1880 created by local resident Willis Leonard. In conjunction with the display, historian and archivist Edna Kent will be on hand to give a presentation on the history of Chepachet with a special focus on the 1800s. Willis Leonard will also be at the library to answer questions about his work on the model.
Evening Book Discussion/Dinner

Join us for a delicious dinner followed by a lively discussion of Truevine: Two Brothers, a Kidnapping, and a Mother's Quest: A True Story of the Jim Crow South by Beth Macy.
Writers' Support Group
Thursday, November 16, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Read and share your personal projects at this monthly meeting. This adult group is open to writers in all genres. Note: Registration is not necessary for this group.
Crochet Group
Monday, November 20, 6:30 p.m., Harmony Library
Ashley Ledoux, an experienced crocheter, will be our group's leader. Ashley will teach beginners and will be available for assistance and advice for more experienced folk. She will bring a pattern for a holiday scarf for those who would like to tackle a specific project. Beginners will be provided with crochet hooks and yarn scraps to practice; however, if any beginners would like to bring theor own supplies they are welcome to do so. More experienced crocheters should bring their own materials. The library will provide a comfortable room for crochet and conversation! Note: The Crochet Group will meet again on Monday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m.
