Spelling Bee
Spelling bee season is here! For MTMS students, the first round of competition is a written bee in ELA classes. Students scoring 80% or higher will qualify for grade-level spelldowns in November. Begin preparing now by studying the spelling bee list. For more information, check the school’s Web site: https://www.usd232.org/Page/4891.
From Student Council
Student council is organizing a penny war to benefit the American Red Cross and disaster relief for Hurricane Dorian. Start gathering your change now. The competition will run September 16-20.
From the Nurse
Fall Allergy Season has begun. The ragweed and mold count are high. Just a reminder the nurse’s office does not carry medication for seasonal allergies or cold medication. Please give allergy medication at home. Several over–the-counter medications are available that work 24 hours. There are over-the-counter-eye drops made especially for allergies also available.
Attendance
When reporting your student absent due to illness, please leave a brief description of symptoms such as stomach issues, headache, fever, strep, flu. It helps to track illnesses in our building and reporting to health department if needed.
Attention parents of 7th graders. Please check your student’s immunization records in Family Access on Skyward. The Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) and Meningococcal (Meningitis) is required in 7th grade. Thank you to those who sent in updated vaccination records prior to the start of school. Vaccination records and sports physicals have been entered in Skyward
The Tdap and/or Meningococcal vaccination(s) are due October 14, 2019. Your student may be excluded from school after this date until this requirement is filled.
When your student receives the Tdap and/or Meningococcal vaccination(s), please send in documentation to the school nurse. Documentation could be a copy of the pink immunization card, a note from your doctor, doctor’s office copy of vaccination record or a copy of the bill for the vaccines. The documentation can be sent with students, brought in by parents, mailed or faxed to the school or e-mailed to the school nurse. To view vaccination requirements, go to the district web site usd232.org.
Attention 6th grade parents-The Tdap (Tetanu, Diptheria and Pertussis) and Meningococcal vaccinaitons will be due for your student in the 7th grade. If your student receives vaccinations throughout the school year or if your student received vaccinations over the summer, please send updated vaccination records to the nurse.
The vaccinations on file can be viewed in Skyward Family Access under Health Info then select Show Vaccinations in the Display Options.
