PBIS Committee Update
February 2023
POSITIVE OUTLOOK
Mr. Earl is starting to escort a few students from lunch to PE. It eliminates 2 more tardies out there!
Tardy policy in the 8th grade is having good outcomes. Only 11 kids had more than 5 tardies. Repeat/Summer School has more kids motivated to pass.
Culvers rewards for the honor roll will be on Friday - kids are excited.
Another teacher came into my room this morning just to offer help to anyone who needed it.
Students are excited to come to SEL group and upcoming projects we are doing
A student went through the day with no behaviors
TARDY POLICY UPDATE:
- Discussed concerns and input provided from staff from the first draft shared of a new tardy policy
- Adjusted a few minor changes to what the 8th grade has already been trying for the building wide tardy policy
- Questions were raised such as when students show up on the list again, what will happen?
- The 2nd week of 5 or more tardies results in a Saturday School
- The 3rd week of 5 or more tardies results in a 4 hour Saturday School
- The 4th week and beyond of 5 or more tardies will result in 1 day OSS
- We also discussed Rewards for students who are not tardy. Some ideas were shared as well as ways to pay for them.
- Ideas on how to roll out to staff, students, and parents were shared. Floor meetings were held, students were told over 2 days, and we are now in full swing of a building wide Tardy Policy.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- We have a base line of students failing and will pull the numbers again to review at our next meeting
- Data will be reviewed on the number of students who are tardy from week to week to see if it is decreasing
- Reward for students who are not tardy: Need to decide on reward and a date
