Tech Talk at LTPS
K-3 Elementary Technology with Mrs. Miller
2014/15 School Year
Marking Period 2 has started and we are gearing up for dynamic technology lessons! Kindergarten through third grade students will start to experience the global world of robotics and coding. AT LTPS we are investigating Scratch Jr. on the iPads, and Lego We-do Robotics, and "we - do" love robots!!!
November - January
Kindergarten students are learning to "Find the Technology" using ABCya which develops their computer-related technology and allows them to identify hardware devices. It supports our technology curriculum to understand and use technology systems effectively and productively. We use the Paint program to create a class alphabet book where the students draw their upper and lower case letters and find pictures to relate to the beginning sound.
Kidspiration our graphic organizer will be used by our first graders which provides a visual work-space for the development of organized pictures and ideas. Kidspiration develops strong thinking, reading, and writing skills. We will create graphic organizers that support the first grade curriculum.
Lawrence second grade students are supporting their math and graphing skills using Create A Graph. We are inserting data into a small spreadsheet and graphing the information that we surveyed in the classroom.
Third grade students are constructing, connecting, contemplating, and playing with Lego WeDo robotics. They are learning about the robotic parts and programming their robots to move using the WeDo programming language. Our first robotic build is the Dancing Bird.
