Need to Know
Happy New Year from Middle School!
Photos for House Points: Students can earn points for their houses by bringing in a photo of himself (alone or with others) taken during the winter break. Start the year off with some school spirit! Photos need to be printed and given to Ms. Beech by Friday, January 17! Include the student’s name and house on the paper/photo.
Math and Science Tutorials: This message was delivered to students during this week’s assembly...Math and Science tutorials are made available for students who need to catch up on concepts and material they have not been mastered. The cumulative math test written in December is a good diagnostic for which concepts have been mastered and those that need further development. In science tutorial, a student may make up a lab that was missed due to absence as well as to receive help with the concepts under study or previously under study. Tutorial is not a place for students to "hang out" and do work other than math or science. Tutorial is a class, and as such, the expectations for behaviour are the same as any other class. Students should arrive promptly at 3:00 and leave when they have completed their objective for the tutorial.
Winter Gryphon Sale: The winter Gryphon Sale will be held in the Rossy Agora on Wednesday, January 22rd, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Come in for amazing deals on gently used uniform items such as blazers, pants, gym apparel, shirts and much more. Payment options are cash, debit cards, credit cards or cheques. All proceeds benefit the Nancy Pitfield Scholarship Fund, which helps in offering bursaries to worthy students. Gently used uniform donations are always welcome, and can be dropped off anytime with Kim at the Front Office.
Judges for Grade 8 Science Fair: Selwyn House is holding our annual Grade 8 Science Fair Thursday, January 30, and we are currently looking for judges. If you are a grade 7 parent and are free on Thursday morning, between 8:00 am and 10:30 am, please email Ms. Haneefa Corbie (corbieh@selwyn.ca) by January 25 if you would like to be a judge. A more detailed schedule of the day will be forwarded to you upon your reply. Extensive science knowledge is not required.
Family Visits: Selwyn House is hosting another series of family tours on Monday, January 20, at 8:30 am. If you would like to introduce the school to a friend, please contact the Admissions Office at (514) 931-2775 or warmuthm@selwyn.ca to book a tour with a student ambassador. We look forward to seeing you then.
