Ike Races for the Cure!
Eisenhower staff recently formed a Race for the Cure team to support our a very special teacher, friend, and colleague of ours, Deanna Neuman, who is battling breast cancer. “Team Deanna” was formed and even had t-shirts made with the slogan: “Cancer Messed with the Wrong Girl!” that were sold to staff members all over our school district. We are definitely a staff that stand behind one another and support each other every day. Mrs. Neuman was in great spirits on race day and completed the one mile family fun walk. But she wasn’t alone, with her family and colleagues by her side she braved the heat and finished the walk. She said that the positive support meant so much to her.
After the race, the group joined for brunch. This is where Lisa Stevens, our Physical Education teacher, presented Deanna with her own personal award that she just found out that she had won. Miss Stevens was the second female to finish the race and was also awarded the Overall Masters Champion award, which means she was the first woman over 40 to cross the finish line! She says she had been training hard so she could do something special in honor of Mrs. Neuman’s battle to defeat cancer. “I hoped to win something for her because she won the biggest fight and she is the real winner,” Miss Stevens added.
Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 7
Communication on a regular basis is essential. One method we use to communicate is Parent/Teacher Conferences. The way we will handle Parent/Teacher Conferences this year will be different than the way they were done in elementary and are transitional in nature.
We will have conferences November 7th from 7:10—2:35 and 4:00—7:00. We will also have a second evening conference on November 9th from 5:00—8:00. Invitations will be going out October 12th and 13th to the parents of all students whose teachers would like the opportunity to discuss success plans. Conferences will be open for everyone on October 26th.
Conferences will be scheduled for 15 minutes. You will have the opportunity to meet with all of your child’s teachers at once if that is desirable. We will ask that all conferences stick to the scheduled time. We want to be available to you so if you do not schedule a conference time, are not able to get one, or do not have enough time during your conference, please let us know and we will work to find a time to meet with you. Again, communication is extremely important to us.
More information will be forthcoming!
Ike's Book Fair is Right Around the Corner!
Our annual book fair will be taking place October 30th through November 3rd and we are excited! The fair will take place during the school day, from 7:50 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
If you would be available to help staff the Book Fair, please contact Mrs. Cullen at mcullen@oregoncs.org.
Thank you in advance for helping to make our book fair a success!!
Please Join Us at EPSSO (new day and time)!
Our next meeting of the Eisenhower Parents and Staff for Students Organization is Tuesday, October 10th at 6:00 in the Eisenhower Library! Please note that this is a change.
Our “Eisenhower Spotlight” will be on the RTI process and our Connections period. In an effort to be respectful of your time, the meeting will be held to one hour. We hope to see you there!
At our first meeting, our “Eisenhower Spotlight” was on the Foundations of Eisenhower Intermediate School. They are:
1. Eisenhower is a transitional building.
2. We will schedule for success.
3. Connections will provide something for everyone.
4. Show you care.
5. We will have an academic and social/emotional focus.
Throughout the year I will share with you how the structure of our building and how our procedures tie into these foundations. We will continue to focus on the foundations above as decisions are made.
We hope to see you on Wednesday night!
Youth to Youth is Starting!

Connections Connections!
Our Connections period is a vital piece of our daily schedule. It provides time for intervention and also allows an opportunity for students to be exposed to a variety of activities. Band is also scheduled at this time. Students rotate on green day and yellow day schedule. Green days are Mondays and Tuesdays, Yellow days are Thursdays and Fridays and we rotate on Wednesdays.
Every quarter we will change the Connections schedule. Some students will remain in intervention while others will rotate through a variety of clubs and activities.
We are very excited about Connections and will continue to provide more information on what this time looks like for students. Our goal is that every student will gain from the opportunities afforded them during this time.
Please ask your son/daughter about his/her Connections class.
Thank You for Box Tops!
Three traveling groups had approximately 100 Box Tops collected and 4 more had over 150 Box Tops collected.
Mrs. Gragac and Mr. Kidd's traveling groups each collected over 200 Box Tops. However, Mr. Meyer and Mr. Haar's traveling groups went well over the 300 mark!
But, there was one traveling group that seemed extremely hungry for donuts. This group had 10 different students submit Box Tops for a grad total of 570 collected. Congratulations to Mrs Nowak's traveling group!
