From the Principal
March is here and Spring weather is coming. We are starting to enjoy our courtyard more and more with outdoor writing lessons and time to read with friends. I continue to be impressed by our students' dedication to learning.
We have a lot of fun and exciting events this month. On March 17th, students will participate in an outside assembly where our top earners from the Read-a-Thon will get to SLIME Mrs. Taylor and I. We encourage children to bring a towel to sit on for this brief assembly. Students are also eager to participate in the First In Math March Madness Challenge. Students are encouraged to earn stickers for their class by practicing their math facts on First In Math.
Testing Update
Students in Grade 5 will be taking their Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) on March 16th and 18th. Third quarter assessments for reading, math, and science will also take place at the end of the month. MCAP testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take place in May. Students should be in attendance, get plenty of rest, and eat breakfast so they are ready for testing.
Kindergarten registration begins on April 5th and Pre-K registration begins May 3rd. Registration should be completed online and will continue throughout the summer. Early registration helps us with planning for the upcoming school year.
Spring Break is right around the corner! School will be closed April 11-April 18th. The office will be closed during Spring Break and will reopen on April 19th.
I am grateful for all that you do each day for our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Kim VerMerris
Principal
