SEPTEMBER NEWS
A Note from Mrs. Jeffers
Thank you to those that supported our first fundraiser! We will have a few throughout the year, but the t-shirt sales are always the most fun because students get to show their school spirit on our spirit days throughout the year. As a small school we are always grateful for family participation in our fundraisers and after school family engagement activities. We love to see students learning and thriving with their family!

Vision Screening
The Door Village Lions Club provides our preschool program with free Vision Screenings annually. This year our vision screenings will be held on September 26th and 27th while your student is at preschool. An informational page detailing the process and a permission form to screen will be sent home for you to review and return to your students teacher. If your student does not attend on one of these screening days, please let your students teacher know and we can make arrangements with you to bring your student to school to participate.
Dismissal Procedure
Just a friendly reminder that we ask you to contact our office at 219-324-3287 prior to 10:00/2:30 to inform us if your student normally rides the bus but you or another designated person will be picking up that day instead. This will help to eliminate any confusion and reduce the possibility of you arriving and your child having already been placed on a bus.
A big thank you to parents/caregivers that are using their pick-up signs!! This helps us tremendously as we want to ensure that all of our students are dismissed to the correct individuals. As you may have seen, we do stagger our dismissal just slightly to avoid overcrowding at the door.
Playground Fun!
Our students have enjoyed time on the playground when it hasn't been too hot to go out. Thank you for remembering to send your children in play friendly clothing, as they love to swing, slide, and run!!
Breakfast and Lunch
We are pleased that in addition to offering a free breakfast to our morning students we can now offer a free lunch to our afternoon friends. Our morning friends can pick in the cafeteria line what they would like for breakfast but due to the nature of creating a "hot" lunch, we need to know those choices in advance. Please make sure to circle the lunch choices for the month on the calendar that comes home. Fortunately the lunch menus recycle every other month, so once we know your initial choices, we will not need to continue to send home lunch calendars in the months to come.
Parent Teacher Conferences
On Monday, September 25th we will not have students in session for school. Instead, that day will be used to hold Parent/Teacher Conferences with parents and guardians. These are brief meetings to give an overall summary of how your student has acclimated to and is performing in the preschool setting. Meetings will be short in length and can be held in person, over the phone, or via Google Meet. Sign-up forms will be distributed soon, so please be on the lookout! Please remember that you are always invited to email or call your students teacher throughout the year if you have any questions or concerns.
