PRAIRIE POST
October 4, 2019
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Families,
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. At Prairie, we will spend some time throughout October to learn more about what bullying is and to learn strategies to prevent it from happening. Check out the video below to learn more about how to help your student be an upstander!
We had an unannounced fire drill yesterday and all students and staff did a fantastic job of exiting the building quickly, quietly and in a safe way. Great work, everyone!
This week brought some rain and cooler weather. We had indoor recess on Tuesday. Shout out to the fifth graders who did a great job during indoor recess. Some students chose to color or hang out with friends and a lot of students chose to play two new Playworks games in the classroom. All of the students who played followed the rules of the game and had a lot of fun! As the weather continues to get cooler, please help your learners remember to wear appropriate outerwear to keep them warm at recess time.
Have a great weekend!

Staff Spotlight
I’ve been with the Waukesha Police Department for almost 17 years now, starting in early 2003. Before working as an officer, I worked as one of the district groundskeepers for a short period of time and in construction/concrete, too. I have a connection with Prairie Elementary due to my two sons having gone to school there themselves. They are now in high school and middle school. Some things I enjoy doing outside of work are watching movies, fishing, hunting, coaching, and spending time with family and friends when able. Having grown up in the Waukesha School District myself, going to Rose Glen Elementary, Butler Middle, and Waukesha North High, I have a connection to our city and this has been “home”.

Christmas Clearing Council
It is the time of year to distribute Christmas Clearing Council applications! For those who do not know, the Christmas Clearing Council (CCC) helps provide Christmas gifts for families who may struggle to afford gifts for their children. It is an awesome program that many families utilize each year. There are a few qualifications: you must be a Waukesha County resident AND your child must be eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch and/or meet the household income eligibility requirements. Please feel free to fill out the application (one per family), and send back to Mr. Endsley or the Prairie Office.
Applications are DUE Friday November 15, 2019.
