Happy New Year
Christmas - The Mexican way
This week Year 5 kick started their learning journey 'Why go to Mexico?' by exploring Mexican Christmas traditions. Wednesday was Epiphany, the time when the three kings brought presents to the baby Jesus. In Spanish speaking countries this is celebrated as the three kings day and in some parts of the world is the day when children are bought presents. To mark this special day, the year 5 children wrote letters in Spanish telling the three kings what they would like for Christmas and then they placed the letters inside a balloon, just as the children in Mexico would do. Mexican children would then release the balloons at one of the many parades that take place, year 5 had to make do with the hall! The children had great fun carrying out this activity as you can see from the photo above.

Trips and Visits
As you are aware, we pride ourselves on the breadth of educational visits we offer our children throughout school. All the visits rely on the voluntary contributions of parents or carers, without which the visits would be unable to take place. This year, in an attempt to give you advanced notice and to help with financial planning, we advised each class of the cost of all the visits for the academic year. This amount has been input onto Parentpay to enable you to make payments in regular small amounts if you choose to do so.
As a term has now passed, please could we remind parents of this arrangement and ask you to check that you are on target to make payment of the annual amount by the end of the academic year. When we run a trip we obviously incur expenses and it would help us greatly if payments could be made in line with the trips.
We really do appreciate your support as without it, we would be unable to carry out some of the valuable learning experiences.
