A Time To Shine- #31
THANK YOU
Wow, it has been a great year in technology! I hope you have seen the positive changes that are going on with the refresh plan and I hope you are getting excited about it continuing for next year. It has also been a phenomenal year in instructional technology implementation. Thank you for allowing me to come into your PLCs, contact you through email, and if you haven't booked me yet, it's not too late- please do.
With the school year coming to an end, I want to leave you with a few things that I feel are important when it comes to implementing technology...
- Start small. If you have not implemented technology into your classroom, set two goals for next year. Pick a tech tool that works for you. You can always look back at the Tech Tip Tuesday Archive.
- Planning is crucial. Think about how long it will take them to review the task and tech tool, learn it, and complete it. It's a good idea to give them some time to play around with the tech tool too.
- Give students information for grading purposes. Make sure that you are specific when telling students what it is you're looking for. I like using rubrics because it tells them what I'm looking for and shows them what they need to be successful. Include your students when creating a rubric too. Check out single-point rubrics.
- Know the TEK. The TEK comes before the task. Think about if the tech tool is going to enhance their learning and allow creativity. We'll be looking at the SAMR model next year.
- Please, please, please, don't forget that it's about the process. Just because the ending product didn't turn out the way you would hope for, don't forget there was learning going on while they were creating.
Thank you all for a wonderful year! I hope you all have a great summer and I'm looking forward to next year.
