No School Nov. 23-25: Thanksgiving Break
A Few Words from the Principal
Hello,
Today you will receive from the district an email regarding your opting in your student to take the MySAEBRS survey. This survey is one that the district has been using for a few years to provide us feedback from your child to help us identify needs that may present barriers to their learning. The skills measured by this tool are those that help students succeed in school, career, and life. Be looking for an email containing the exact questions asked and the steps to opt your child in to take the survey. We value this information greatly and appreciate you taking your time to consider opting your student in to take this survey.
A Wonderful Night with Jazz Band
From PTA
We have two upcoming events:
Staff Pies:
Give the MTMS staff a slice of thanks! Each staff member will take home a pie or dessert for Thanksgiving. Donations are still needed. Use the link to see how you can help! Tuesday before break, they organize a turkey scavenger hunt to determine pie picking order!

Winter Social:
Friday, December 2nd will be our winter social. Mark your calendars and dust off your dancing shoes! 6th graders will party from 3:05-4:30pm while the 7th and 8th graders will socialize from 6:00-7:30pm. No RSVP necessary. $1 to get in at the door. Chips, cookies, soda, and water will be available to purchase for $1. If dancing isn’t your thing, the gym will be open for hanging out as well.
Parents, we need chaperones! Volunteers will take money at the door, help sell snacks, clean up at the end, and the best part, observe middle schoolers! If your student cringes at the thought of your presence at the party, consider chaperoning the social they won’t be at! We greatly appreciate your gift of time. If you are willing to help, use the link to sign up. Text questions to Maria Turvey @ 785-766-8882 or email the PTA account mtms.pta.wolves@gmail.com.

From the Counselors
National Gratitude Month in November encourages us to embrace the power of gratitude.
Gratitude is more than simply saying “thank you.” Gratitude’s amazing powers have the ability to shift us from focusing on the negative to appreciating what is positive in our lives.
Research has shown that gratitude can enhance our moods, decrease stress, and drastically improve our overall level of health and wellbeing.
Click the link below for gratitude exercises and activities you can share with your student!
From the Nurse
Illness
- If you have a child who is sick, we ask for your support by keeping them at home. Students and staff must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
· If your student is diagnosed with Influenza (“the Flu”) or with COVID, they must remain at home for 5 days from the onset of illness, with return on day 6.
- If you have questions about your student’s health, please contact your school nurse. Additional information regarding health and wellness is available on the district website.
- Remind your child of important preventative measures for any illness, such as coughing into the sleeve, frequently washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and getting plenty of rest and fluids.
