Forest Grove Gazette
March 2018
Welcome to Spring
Spring is a great time in education. All of our school routines are in place, and there is strong sense of purpose in the classroom as teachers work to maximize student learning.
In English Language Arts, teachers have their classes steeped in grade level content, working on teaching students to support their ideas with evidence from text whether they are speaking or writing.
In Math, students are reaching beyond simple computation to understand the concepts that build the foundation for a solid understanding of the math standards.
On the playground, we continue to support students to play games cooperatively and build on the Character Counts characteristics that support our message of friendship and service to each other.
The month of March brings with it a focus on the arts in support of the academic program at Forest Grove. Our teachers will be developing assignments that use visual and performing arts to help students learn.
We believe that this focus on the whole child leads to more well-rounded students who can see the beauty of the world as they seek to understand its knowledge.
Spring is a time of growth, and at Forest Grove we are working to make the most of our time with our students.

Principal
Morning Arrival Time
We have seen an increasing number of students arriving to school before 8:30 a.m. This is a reminder that students are not allowed on campus until 8:30 a.m. as that is when supervision is present on our playground.
If you need to drop off your student earlier, we have our Before and After School Recreation Program available to serve this need.
We appreciate you working with us to ensure that we have a safe playground before the beginning of the school day.
Conference Week and Early Dismissal
This week, March 5-9, we are holding our Spring parent conferences.
Our TK and Kindergarten classes will be released at 12:10 p.m. all week.
Beginning Wednesday, grades 1-5 will be released at 12:10 p.m., so please adjust your schedules to accommodate this minimum day schedule.
Also, when visiting our campus, please remember to sign in at the office. This procedure helps us keep track of who is on campus which keeps our students safe.
We look forward to spending some time with you to discuss your student’s progress.
