VACCINE INFO:
Important Covid-19 Updates and Information
Covid-19 Precautions and Protocols
If someone in your household has tested positive for Covid-19, all SHS students in that household need to stay home and contact their Head of School (Mr. Banerjee for Senior School, cc: Ms. Wong).
- If a student presents symptoms that may be Covid-19 symptoms, please keep him home until symptoms have ceased and complete the online Covid symptom self-assessment to determine if testing is required. Contact Ms. Wong to keep us informed.
Spectators need proof of vaccination at sporting venues: As per RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) regulations, all spectators or visitors at any sporting venue used by our school must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and be able to show proof in the form of a QR code.
Proof of vaccination is required for participation in all extracurricular activities. If you haven’t yet done so, all eligible students are asked to use a student’s @selwyn.ca email account to complete this Google form and submit student vaccination data.
Reminder September 10 COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic: tomorrow, September 10, the CIUSSS is coming to Selwyn House to assist with 1st and 2nd vaccinations for all eligible students. Please take note of these important steps if you wish your son to participate:
Each student receiving a vaccination at Selwyn House on the morning of September 10 will need to pre-register his appointment using this Clic-Santé link, specifically designed for the school vaccination clinics. Our school is listed as “École Selwyn House - Campus 1”. Detailed registration instructions are available here.
Inform Ms. Wong of the registered appointment time so that Ms. Wong can coordinate with teachers and assist in getting your son to his appointment.
Each student getting vaccinated will need to bring his Medicare card with him tomorrow, and ideally wear a short-sleeve school shirt. Vaccinations will be taking place in the Rossy Agora.
Calling all Selwyn House parents! Please join us on Tuesday, September 14, for the Welcome Back Tea & Coffee from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Take a few minutes to pop by and meet new parents, and catch up with old ones, in the Guzzo Family Playground (West Yard). Tea, coffee, and delicious breakfast treats will be served (please bring your own reusable mugs, if possible). We're looking forward to seeing you!
Student absence or lateness: Please email (wonga@selwyn.ca) or call Ms. Wong (x2239) by 8:00 a.m. if your son is going to miss morning attendance (8:10) for any reason. Similarly, please notify Ms. Wong if your son needs to leave school during the school day for any reason. Upon his arrival/return to school, he should report directly to Ms. Wong to sign-in.
No Drop-Offs of forgotten items, please: to limit visitors in the school, parents are asked to refrain from dropping off items for their sons during the school day. Students should please remember to pack what they need for the day in their backpacks.
Epipen Protocol: If your child has a prescribed Epipen, he should carry it on him at all times. This is in addition to the Epipen that must be submitted to the Front Office. Please notify Ms. Wong to confirm details of your son’s allergy and arrange receipt of Epipens for the Front Office.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION INFORMATION:
Physical Education and Team Information – Fall 2021: Gryphons Athletic Page Senior School PE classes run Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00 - 4:15 PM. Dismissal times may vary depending on the venue or team sport.
Week of Welcome Activities: Last Friday, our Senior School students closed the Week of Welcome with a day filled with fun activities held both on- and off-campus.
After an 18-month hiatus, the students came together across grade levels to participate in activities that, for the first time in the day’s history, were led by the prefects.

Student Leadership & Experiential Education
Grade 10 River Rescue Days: Once again this year, from September 13-15, each Grade 10 class will be experiencing an Outdoor Education day on the St. Lawrence River. For more information, please see the email sent today from Ms. Courtney Prieur with all the important details and consent forms.

This is a 4-day river safety program that will build on the rescue training the students have already experienced in Verdun. Each day will be packed with safety training on the rapids, white water rafting, kaya-rafting, and loads of wilderness experience as we will be camping on a beautiful island surrounded by white water and incredible views. Students will also learn to prepare delicious meals, how to load a Pack-Raft, set up camp and connect with the land under their feet. Space is limited for this adventure so please reach out to Mr. Deegan ASAP to reserve your spot (e-mail: deeganc@selwyn.ca). Further concerns at 514-931-1741. Pricing is dependent on how many students attend. Current fee is 725$ (may vary) *includes all gear / transport / food / and stay. An info brochure will be sent home soon.
Student Portfolios
Before the start of the school year, all Senior School students and their parents received an email with instructions and a link to their individual student portfolio folder in Google Drive. This folder contains the criteria for the Veritas Diploma and an activity record for students to track their activities and achievements. It can also be used to save documents and photos that verify students’ participation in activities. To see how to complete the activity record, please view this video. Any questions about the Veritas Diploma or the Student Portfolio folder, please see Ms. Torry (for activities), Mr. Watson (for the Veritas Diploma) or Mr. Lane (for post-secondary guidance and portfolio building).
