Grade 9 Outdoor Education Camping Trips: Grade 9- 3 February 20 - February 22: return to SHS approximately 3:30 - 4:00 pm.

Upcoming Presentation - Hal Hannaford & Susan Doherty: As many of you know Hal & Susan have given their presentation on IIlness, Wellness, Resilience, and Survival many times this past year. Many of you have heard the presentation, and this upcoming Monday, February 24 at 9:45 a.m. they are presenting their talk to all students in Grades 7 - 11. It will be an interesting and somewhat emotional time. Corisitne Hall will be full, but if you are interested in attending, there could be some room at the back. All are welcome, but keep in mind it will be a full house.
The movie night has been rescheduled! Join us Tuesday, February 25 in the Rossy Agora for a screening of Selma. Admission is a $5 donation that goes to The Council for Black Aging Community of Montreal. Snacks and drinks will be sold!
Thursday, Feb. 27: 7:00-8:30 PM: Performance by the Old Boys Blues Band directed by Alex Becker in the Rossy Agora with a special guest performance by James McMillan (Director of advancement, former SHS music teacher and band director). If the parent-student-teacher interviews give you the blues, come and unwind as the band play a high energy set of classic jazz and blues tunes.

Thursday, February 27: Grades 7 to 11 Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews 1:30 - 8:00 pm Dismissal at 12:30 pm, no lunch served. No parking in front of the school or on Argyle prior to 2:30 pm on Thurs. Feb 27 as we need that area for pick up for the Elementary School students.
Friday, February 28: Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM
No classes for students Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Students attend interviews with their parents.
Lost & Found: Items will be displayed on tables in the hallway to the right of Coristine Hall on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28. If your son has lost an item or items, please have a look.
The Re-Enrollment Form is due Friday, February 28. To secure your son’s enrollment for the 2020-2021 academic year please check off the appropriate box on the re-enrollment form and return this form to Ms. D. Dragone in the Business Office. It is crucial for the school’s planning that we have accurate and complete re-registration figures. The re-enrollment fee secures your son’s place for next year.

Black History Month: Enoch Tamale on Uganda
SHS Debaters nearly sweep championships: Selwyn House debaters took first, second and fourth-place honours among 34 teams at the Quebec Student Debating Association Provincial Championships, held at Vincent Massey Collegiate in Montreal Feb. 15 and 16. The team of Isaac Cape and Jonah Rosen won the Senior Tournament, while the team of Daniel Bergevin and Dylan Lee took second place, and the team of Matthew Homa and Sasha Klein took fourth place. SHS debaters also took five out of the top 10 speaker awards. Isaac Cape was second, Dylan Lee third, Sasha Klein fourth, Daniel Bergevin sixth and Matthew Homa ninth. Read more
Vinh wins bronze at GMAA championships: Second-year Gryphon wrestler Sean Vinh (Gr.10) skilfully wrestled his way to a Bronze medal at the 2020 GMAA Wrestling Championships, held at Massey Vanier Collegiate in Cowansville, Quebec, Feb. 13. Sam Telio 9 finished fifth in a competitive weight class. First-year Gr. 9 wrestlers Michael Gubitosa and Sam Telio both won their matches. Read more
Cole Bonnell has been chosen to represent Canada on the national team for the 2020 South American Optimist Sailing Championships, scheduled for March 21-28 in Maya De Plata, Argentina. Read more
Argyle Shop: Please note that the Argyle Shop will be closed for inventory the week of February 24. Regular shop hours will resume on Wednesday, March 18.
Advanced Placement Exams: Grade 11 students who are planning to attend prep school may be interested in taking AP (Advanced Placement) exams in the spring. Parents who wish to register their sons for an AP exam may do so by emailing Ms. Palko no later than March 1.

Leadership Opportunities
Now is the time to consider applying to three upcoming conferences in 2020: the Global Student Leadership Summit, the CAIS Student Leadership Conference, and the Canadian Student Leadership Conference. These conferences are open to current senior school students (Grades 9-11), though you must check to see which conference(s) pertain to your grade level. 2020-21 Prefect and House Head Applications: Applications have been emailed to the current Grade 9 and 10 students for those interested in becoming House Heads or Prefects next year.
