NOTE FROM MR. MARTINEZ
Hello Hello McKinley Families,
I hope this communication finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining McKinley STEAM Academy this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! Our commitment to McKinley students is to provide an environment that is dedicated to learning collaboratively, cultivating curiosity, celebrating diversity, and building relationships through high-quality integrated curriculum opportunities. Under the current circumstances, we recognize we will be facing significant challenges in meeting these commitments. However, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of every student because every student deserves every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to working in collaboration with all of you as partners to engage our children to be socially, emotionally, and academically prepared for their futures.

MUSIC UPDATE
Every 6th grader, and those 7th and 8th graders who choose to participate in Band, Orchestra, and/or Choir, will be enrolled in a class called "General Music" as this year begins. "General Music" will feature learning experiences that are common to all musicians, like reading rhythms and analyzing listening examples. ALL parents/students will be asked to complete a survey that confirms their choice for music this year. Students will ultimately be enrolled in the traditional courses of Band, Choir, and Orchestra.
