Due to time constraints, the show will have a limited number of slots available for performances. Applications will be taken into consideration on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parent "Apprentice" & Volunteers for Talent Show Needed!
The MEA Annual Talent Show and Silent Auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2017. We are in need of parent volunteers to ensure this event is a success! Adira Rosen, current MEA senior and MEA theatre Director has graciously offered to organize the show. However, we need a parent who is willing to help run the show in future years to be her “apprentice” this year since she is graduating (sniff, sniff). We also need parents to help with set up and breakdown. If you are interested in helping in any capacity or have further questions, please email Principal Browne at cbrowne@sandi.net. (Remember, the show can’t go on without the help of volunteers!)
MEA Garden and Nature Trail
Are you interested in helping grow our garden and nature trail? Maybe you'd like to help a class plant seeds this spring or create a legacy project. Volunteers and donations are welcome year round! Visit the garden webpage here to see the current wish list and all that is growin' on in the garden!
Thank You for Your Box Tops!
We want to thank all who helped us collect Box Tops for Education. Our total received and submitted as of February 2017 was $200.80. Every box top counts!
Keep 'em coming! We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week –- or more. Now turn those shopping trips into easy cash for our school, and encourage friends to do the same! Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios, Hamburger Helper and Kleenex, in almost every aisle of the store. All you need to do is clip and bring them in to the front office or the family study room - each one is worth 10¢ for Mt. Everest Academy. http://www.boxtops4education.com/about

Showing of "SCREENAGERS" Through UCSD
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well.
In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
