"I Love a Clean San Diego" Presentation
Last week, three representatives from I Love A Clean San Diego came out and led a fun, interactive presentation for our students about watersheds and how water travels to our beaches and oceans. In the picture below, students are examining different bottles of contaminated ocean water; one with litter, one with cigarette butts, one with dog feces, another with motor oil, and another with brake dust.

San Diego Math Field Day
To MEA parents and students of MEA:
We have an opportunity for up to 15 students from our school to participate in an upcoming Math Competition. Math Field Day is held at the Bishop’s School in La Jolla from 8 am until about 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2017. The range in grade levels is 6th through 9th grade.
The problems in the competition can be challenging, but it will still be fun. This new competition for us can have only one particular type of math challenge for 1 student up to a group of 3 students for each school in the 9 events named below. (All of the competitions happen in the same time frame, so trying to compete in more than one event will not work.)

Parent "Apprentice" & Volunteers for Talent Show Needed!
The MEA Annual Talent Show and Silent Auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2017. We are in need of parent volunteers to ensure this event is a success! Adira Rosen, current MEA senior and MEA theatre Director has graciously offered to organize the show. However, we need a parent who is willing to help run the show in future years to be her “apprentice” this year since she is graduating (sniff, sniff). We also need parents to help with set up and breakdown. If you are interested in helping in any capacity or have further questions, please email Principal Browne at cbrowne@sandi.net. (Remember, the show can’t go on without the help of volunteers!)
Spring Break
Monday, March 27 - Friday, March 31
School will be closed for one week starting next Monday, and will re-open on Monday, April 3, 2017.
