Can you believe that the 2017 Summer Reading Program is just around the corner? This year's theme, Build a Better World, lends itself to so many fun programs and activities that we are planning for patrons of all ages. We can hardly wait to share the fun!

Evening Book Discussion/Dinner
Monday, May 15, 1 p.m., Harmony Library
Join us for a delicious dinner followed by a lively discussion of Empress Orchid by Anchee Min.
Mychal Gendron in Concert
Saturday, May 20, 3 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Guitarist Mychal Gendron will perform his solo guitar program, "New Expressions for Guitar: Music of the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa." Mychal, a classical guitarist, has performed for over 30 years, appearing as a soloist as well as performing in both small and large ensembles.
He has toured Brazil as a soloist under the aegis of Partners of the Americas, has performed at the Fete di Limans in France, and has presented recitals on concert series throughout the U.S, including all six New England States.
Mychal holds a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts and a Master of Music degree in guitar performance from New England Conservatory.

Cookbook Club
Monday, May 1, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
This month’s cookbook is River Cottage Veg: 200 Inspired Vegetable Recipes by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Each person will prepare a recipe for the group and then sample each other’s dishes while discussing the cooking experience. Register online and then drop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.
Real Estate Tips and Tricks

Join us for an evening with Ann Enos, Director of Professional Development with the RI Association of Realtors. Ann will explain what upgrades are most desirable for selling, small changes that can create a big impact, and strategies to showcase your home.
New Movie Matinee

Grab a snack and enjoy a new release movie on the big screen! The library shows new movies two or three times a month depending on DVD release dates. Visit our website or the library for upcoming matinees. Registration is not necessary!

Fearless Art Group

The Fearless Art Group invites artists of all levels to meet, share ideas, and plan art activities. In May, the group will explore drawing (graphite and/or colored pencil) man’s best friend, the dog.
Crochet Group
Monday, May 22, 6:30 p.m., Harmony Library
Learn the basics of crocheting from Ashley Ledoux, an experienced crocheter. Ashley will teach beginners and be available for assistance and advice for more experienced folk. The library will provide a comfortable room for crochet and conversation.
Fiction Writers’ Group
Thursday, May 18, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Share short excerpts of your original work, participate in monthly exercises, and receive feedback from fellow writers. Writers are encouraged to attend one meeting to see if the group is a good match for their writing goals. This group, led by Writing Coach Pat Kenny, is open to adults, 21 years and older.
