A Few Words from the Principal
The semester is quickly coming to an end and if your student still has work they need to complete please encourage them to attend Timberwolf Success Program after school from 3:05 - 4:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Media Center.
This week we had several conversations about appropriate use of social media with students. Please take a few minutes to sit down with your student and see what they have been posting and what they have on their computer. Social Media is powerful and we want to make sure that our student are using technology appropriately.
I know there are a few people who are counting down the days to break. To help all of us end the semester strong while having a bit of fun we have a few December spirit days planned.
Tuesday, December 6 - for a $1 donation (going to Habitat for Humanity) students may wear holiday hats and/or headbands
Thursday, December 8 - we will deck the halls with some holiday colors. 6th grade will wear red, 7th grade will wear green, and 8th grade will wear white.
Tuesday, December 13 - wear your favorite holiday socks
Thursday, December 15 - wear holiday lights and starts shining bright
Tuesday, December 20 - wear your favorite holiday sweater
Take care!
Safety & Security Update
Safety & Security Update
Schools now have two points of controlled visitor access at main entrances
USD 232 is pleased to share that all schools now have two points of controlled visitor access at main entrances. The update to our physical security is part of our continuous improvement process to help keep students safe when school is in session.
What can I expect when visiting the school?
We will always strive to make our schools warm and welcoming environments for students and families, balanced with the need to implement simple security measures.
Families are already familiar with the video/intercom door access system at each main entrance, which has been in place since October 2018.
New! Once a visitor is granted access through the main door, the interior vestibule doors will now remain locked. This creates an additional safety barrier for our school. If visitors have a need to enter the office area, then office staff can electronically grant access through the interior vestibule door.
We believe this simple addition to our safe schools protocol will help enhance our overall safety commitment to our students. And, as a reminder when thinking about school safety, if you see or hear something that concerns you, please say something so that we can investigate and involve law enforcement, if necessary.
From Student Council
Hat Day is here! All students can join in the fun by wearing a hat to school on Tuesday, December 6. StuCo encourages a $1 donation, which will be collected before school and benefits Habitat for Humanity.
Also, thank you to everyone who attended Souper Bingo in November. We had a great time and collected 139 cans of soup for the De Soto Food Pantry.
StuCo went to Harvesters three times in November -- 11/15, 11/22, and 11/29. Thank you for the following students for donating their time.
