Communicable Disease Recommendations
Due to the increase in reported cases of influenza and the media attention given to the coronavirus (COVID-19) recently, we are reaching out to families to share recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for keeping your family safe and healthy, and preventing the spread of communicable illnesses.
The CDC is recommending the following actions to prevent infection:
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
-
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-
Stay home when you are sick
-
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard tissue in trash
-
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
In addition, please help us prevent the spread of illness in our schools by reviewing the district’s “Too Sick For School” guidelines, and keeping your child home when they are ill. As a reminder, the “Too Sick For School” guidelines require that your child be vomit-free, diarrhea-free, and fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before they return to school. A fever is defined by the district as a temperature greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit when taken orally.
