**** ANNOUNCEMENTS ****
What's Going on in the Garden?
Work began in the garden this week, with a team of elementary students taking the lead. If you were at MEA in previous years, the classes Garden Exploration and Eco Warriors may sound familiar. These two great activities are combining into one to create a new club dedicated to sustainable living. The name will be Eco Warriors, led by 5th graders Edel and Lily, with help from their parents. Meetings will be announced soon.
**Remember, if classes are in session when you visit the garden, keep your voices to a whisper.**
Compost Bin
Help make new soil for our garden.
Composting Demo:
Wednesday 24th at 12pm.
Learn how to use the compost bin, what you can put inside, and why it's important to compost. Bring your lunch to eat during the demo and leave your scraps!
(Mainly fruit and veggie leftovers. Just please remember no oils, no fats, no citrus, and no meats in the compost bin. Thank you!)
Come Build a New Sign
We are working on a new sign for the garden. We have recycled and repurposed the wood from the previous sign by sanding it down.
A talented MEA student artist is working on drawing a design on the wood with a fine tip marker. After that, the sign will be available in the MakerSpace where we can all pitch in and use the wood-burning tool to make the design permanent. Stop by the MakerSpace in the coming weeks and contribute a few minutes to the new sign. Sign the contributor list so we can credit you with a huge thank you in the Monday Message!
Garden Activities
Last week we:
- found horn worms, caterpillars, and grasshoppers
- cleaned and organized the garden box area.
- harvested carrots and basil
- began weeding grass from around the raised planters and spread mulch
- cleaned around the drain to prevent blockage
- cleaned and redecorated the fairy garden
- removed the love rocks that were sinking into the dirt to prepare them for a new home.
- watered and weeded pots and planters
- started preparing a fall seed sowing plan
Want to work in the garden?
Join us for our fall garden preparations and planting. Meeting will be announced soon.

Attached here is a letter from Adira Rosen, the MEA alum that started the company. In order to continue to offer this program, we need financial support. If every family involved gives what they can, anything from $10 to $500 or more, the MEA Company will be able to continue to thrive and bring joy to our entire community. Thank you!

See's Candies Fundraiser
ORDER FORMS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FRONT OFFICE.
ASB STUDENTS WILL ALSO PASS OUT ORDER FORMS DURING STUDY GROUPS THIS WEEK.
Hello Mt Everest Families!
It is that time of year again! Our See’s fundraiser starts this week, and runs through November 15th! For all students who would like to get into the Fall Festival for FREE- at least 10 items need to be sold and the form needs to be turned into the main office by November 6th at 3pm at the very latest!
I think everyone knows this is one of MEA’s main fundraiser for the year, and it benefits everyone on campus. The money raised through this event goes to support everything done on campus. It is used for the Maker Space, dances, Fall Festival, Field Day, End of the Year Picnic, lunch concerts, science fair, club fair, and anything other requests brought to the ASB. Some of these requests have been money to support clubs like Improv or make our campus more beautiful like the creating of a mural (in progress). All that is created for our community, is to make YOUR family’s experience of our “do school differently school” as wonderful as it can be!
Don’t want to sell candy? I understand that. Please notice that with the See’s Candies form there is also a donation form. Any donation size is wonderful-it all goes together to provide our school with some wonderful fun and meaningful academics for our community. Please feel free to talk to others about what happens at our school and ask for donations if you or others are not interested in candy. I do find that some people do love See’s for the holiday and we time this fundraiser specifically to coincide with holiday gift giving.
As I do not have a specific location on campus to be this year, all forms are to be turned into the main office when complete. Please feel free to contact me if you have any needs or concerns! I would be happy to help out with this event. All we can do to raise money for our school is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Miss Barb bfmulvany@gmail.com
