NO SCHOOL FROM MARCH 29 - APRIL 5, 2021
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Friends & Families,
Thank you to all Prairie students and staff for participating in our first-ever Ro Sham Bo tournament and Rainbow Day! All students and staff displayed excellent sportsmanship and had so much fun! Yesterday we held the Tournament of Champions where all of the champs from each classroom faced off. Congratulations to the classroom champions - they are all pictured below! In the end, Mrs. Brendel beat 5th-grader, Darius, to win the title of Prairie Ro Sham Bo Champion! We look forward to holding this event again in the years to come.
We are wishing all of our Prairie friends and families a relaxing, joyful spring break. See you in April!
We are Team Prairie!
We are stronger together!

Move Forward Wellness Challenge
March 28 - April 24, 2021
Staying home over Spring Break? The Waukesha Education Foundation Inc. (WEF) has your “stay-cation” agenda! The Move Forward Spring Wellness Challenge kicks off the week of Spring Break! This month-long event is full of FREE virtual and small in-person activities, hosted by area businesses and organizations. To preview the events and register, visit the event calendar on the Foundation’s website at: https://bit.ly/wefsteps.
After Spring Break Week, we will be continuing the focus on Wellness here at Prairie by participating in the WEF Movement Minute Challenge. Every day, students will be participating in intentional movement and recording their total minutes at the end of the week. We encourage students, staff, families and community members to keep track of their own movement minutes and do the same, and credit it to Prairie Elementary.
Waukesha Education Foundation Inc will award Wellness Grants to the Elementary and Secondary schools with the highest accumulated minutes per student average by the end of the Move Forward event. The Parent Organization of the winning schools will also receive a $200 grant!
Please help us earn this top spot by recording your own Movement Minutes on the Foundation’s Website at the end of each week in April: https://bit.ly/wefsteps.

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.
