REQUEST TO FAMILIES
In accordance with Anchorage School District protocols, Eagle Academy will not be screening all students upon entry to the building. We will instead implement the honor system and rely on families to do a daily home screening check in the morning before departing for school.
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of reported symptoms – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Symptoms can include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
This list does not include all possible symptoms and children and youth with SARS-CoV-2 infection may experience any, all, or none of these symptoms. (See Symptoms of Coronavirus for more information).
Given the wide range of symptoms and the fact that some people with SARS-CoV-2 infection (the virus that causes COVID-19) are asymptomatic, there are limitations to symptom screening conducted by schools for the identification of COVID-19.
Eagle Academy is asking for your help in self-monitoring. We are counting on everyone in our school community to look after each other and not unnecessarily risk the health and safety of our students, teachers, staff, and family members at home.
If your child displays any of these symptoms please do not send them to school. If a student begins to display symptoms consistent with COVID 19/SARS-CoV-2 while they are in school, Nurse Jan will screen the student. Parents may be requested to pick your student up from school and quarantine the student at home for 10 days or until a negative COVID test result is confirmed.
Please see the attached Daily Home Screening Checklist below.
TA Job Description

This position is 5.5 hrs (8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)
If you are interested or know of someone who is please fill out an electronic application on the ASD's Applitrak website (job # 6716)

- Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will have lunch from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Preliminary data indicate that the risk of transmission of COVID is lessened while participating in outdoor activities, due to airflow. We will continue to encourage and maintain social distancing (as much as possible) and require students to wear their masks during recess.
Experience has shown us that EACS students are able to wear masks while playing on the playground. Most, if not all of our students, across all grade levels, happily wear masks during the winter months during recess without complaint or adverse effect.
- Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will have recess from 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- 3rd - 6th grade will have recess from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

FACE MASK GUIDANCE
Eagle Academy will be following ASD safety protocols. Face masks will be worn at all times. The only exceptions are while eating and drinking. We view the mask mandate as an extension of our school uniform policy.
On September 21st the APB voted to expand the acceptable face mask colors to include:
- Uniform colors (Navy Blue, Light Blue, White, and Red)
- Black
- Grey
- Brown.
Eagle Academy will provide two reusable cloth face masks and a lanyard to secure the masks to their person when we resume in-person instruction. As with all articles of uniform, we request that you print your student's name with a permanent marker on the mask in case it is accidentally left behind. We also have a small quantity of single use disposable pediatric masks on hand for emergencies.
In the event that you are unable to source face masks for your student(s), please contact Principal Carroll.
