Need to Know
School photos: Proof packages, class photos and ID cards were distributed to students last week. Please be advised that the deadline has passed for submitting paper orders to Ms. Beech. Orders can be placed online.
Photo Retakes: If your son was absent when the photos were taken, there will be a photo retakes on Thursday, November 7 between 8:15-8:45 a.m. Class photos will not be retaken. If your son wishes to have his photo retaken, please inform Ms. Beech, and send the original proof package with him to school (if you received one) on November 7.
Study Skills and Strategies: On Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch time, from 12:45 to 1:20 in classroom MS-3, Ms. Montgomery will be offering informal, drop-in sessions on study strategies. Middle School students can learn how their studying can be more effective and how to organize their study time.
Halloween is on Thursday, October 31! Students are encouraged to be in costume to receive house points. This is not a free dress opportunity. If students are not in costume, they are in regular uniform. Be imaginative and creative! Students can win house points just for having a costume, but they can win even more if they are judged as the best costumes in Middle School. Please note that weapons, real or fake, are not to be brought to school as part of a costume and masks are only permitted to be worn during the costume contest.
A Reminder About Using the Front Door: The front door is reserved for the use of Parents, Faculty, guests and Grade 11 students. Middle School students may enter the school via the Speirs arch doors (either into Speirs or Lucas). This applies even for students coming in for breakfast.
Last day of fall Phys.Ed. is Friday, November 8. Your son will be sent a link to a google form next week to choose his Trimester 2 phys.ed. which begins the week of November 11. Students are encouraged to think carefully about which option they can commit to this term. Those interested in basketball should try out for the Midget (Grade 8&9) or Bantam (Grade 7) teams. If there are enough interested players, a third and possibly fourth basketball team will be formed. Students interested in hockey have presumably already participated in try-outs with Coach LaPerle, but if not, that student should speak to Ms. Beech asap. Please note that the options uniquely available to Grade 8 students are offered on the Senior School schedule (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-4:15 p.m.).
Trimester 2 phys ed options for Grade 7 students: Basketball (Bantam), Fencing, Hockey (Peewee), Introductory Wrestling, Rock Climbing, Squash
Trimester 2 phys ed options for Grade 8 students: Basketball (Midget), Fencing, Hockey (Bantam), Introductory Wrestling, Rock Climbing, Squash, Curling
