Fire Safety Fun
Students at Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary had double the fun on Halloween as members of the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department visited to teach them about the importance of their families having a fire safety plan for their home. See more photos here!

Lessons in Makeup
Athens Community Career Academy students in the Cosmetology pathway had the opportunity to work with instructor Betty Hunt's former student, Bridgette Jones, who shared some pro tips on makeup application.
Red Ribbon Wildcats
Students at Whit Davis Elementary and around the district wrapped up Red Ribbon Week dress-up days this week with each theme focusing on a commitment to live a drug-free life.

Whitehead Road Elementary students were having fun marching around the school during their Storybook Character Parade.

Clarke Middle Teacher Receives 'Bright Ideas' Grant from Jackson EMC
Congratulations to Clarke Middle teacher Audrey Hughes for being awarded a $1,180 Bright Ideas Grant by Jackson EMC! The grant program awards middle school teachers throughout Jackson EMC's service area funds for creative and innovative classroom projects that are not funded through general education dollars.
Ms. Hughes, who was one of 48 winners at 30 schools in the service area, and her students with the school's state and national award-winning Science, Energy, and Adventure Team will put the money to use building "energy houses" as part of their ongoing energy conservation and education work in the community.
Gladiators Win Another Region Title!
Congratulations to the Clarke Central boys' cross country team, which won its fourth straight region championship last week! The Gladiators had the top team score with five runners — Waylon Vaughn, Ryan Marshall, Noah Kilpatrick, Karl Ritzner, and Niko Cope — finishing in the top 10 overall in the Region 8-AAAAA championship meet.
The Gladiators were scheduled to compete this morning (Friday, Nov. 3) in the state championship meet at Carrollton High School.
Clarke Central Wins Awards at Region One Act Competition
The Clarke Central Glad Players took their fall production to Heritage High School in Conyers to compete against six other schools last week and placed fourth overall.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Elephant's Graveyard" who took home awards in multiple categories:
- Emmanuel Thompson - All-Star Cast
- La'kyla Jones - All-Star Cast
- Michael Martinez - Best Supporting Actor (Region-wide)
- Exceptional Technical Theatre Award - Artisan Jenkins and Nate St. Onge for puppeteering.

Update or Create Parent Portal Account
Follow these directions for updating the contact information in your Parent Portal account. Don't have an account yet? Follow these directions to set one up. Having a Parent Portal account allows parents and guardians to access attendance records, class schedules, grades, and assignment information for their students. If you already have an account but forgot your password and need a reset, use the links on the login page to reset your password or username or to request help. You may also email campus@clarke.k12.ga.us for additional assistance.

Take Advantage of our School-based Health Centers!
- The Clarke Middle Health Center (CMHC) is a free clinic that serves students and staff and is an extension of the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership’s mobile clinic. Click here for hours, contact information, and more.
- The Hilsman Health Center, the first school-based health clinic to open in northeast Georgia, is a partnership between CCSD and the Athens Neighborhood Health Center and is a comprehensive medical office. - Contact BOE Members: Click here to view a list of the BOE members and their contact information.
- Attend a Meeting: The board's next scheduled meeting is Thursday, Nov. 9, with the work session beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. All meetings are held in the Vernon Payne Meeting Hall at the CCSD administrative offices building, located at 595 Prince Ave. in Athens. The public is invited to attend meetings in person. Meetings are also streamed live and are available for on-demand viewing on the CCSD YouTube channel. Click here for the board meeting schedule.

Georgia Museum of Art to Celebrate 75th Anniversary with Family Day Event
Join the Georgia Museum of Art, 90 Carlton St., Athens, from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, to celebrate the museum’s 75th anniversary with a Family Day for all ages as part of UGA's Spotlight on the Arts. The event will feature art activities, prizes, a photo booth, light refreshments, and more.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Register to attend the event here to help event organizers plan for how much cake to order.

Library PLAY Card
As part of a collaboration between CCSD and the Athens Regional Library System, the PLAY Card account provides each CCSD student with free materials (books, magazines, etc.) and online resources from the public library to help your child succeed in school, along with fun resources to support a lifelong love of reading. You and your child can check out materials at the libraries by entering their student ID number.
