Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
I enjoyed seeing so many families at our PTC-sponsored STEAM Night last Friday. We displayed all of the science projects in the gym, and students were able to participate in a variety of activities from making art to checking out the BSD Future Bus to playing with robots to watching a live demonstration from OMSI staff. We really appreciated the help from our parent volunteers, Terra Linda staff, Sunset Student leaders, and ISB art students who helped run the stations and make the event a success!
Congratulations to the following students for being selected to represent Terra Linda at the Beaverton School District's Science Fair:
- Fulani Jabar-Mohammad, 5th Grade, Project: Lead, Lead Baby
- Tessa Rozendal, 5th Grade, Project: Experimenting with Chromatography
- Jane Mattson, Elissa Schaeffer, and Lisette Soto, 4th Grade, Project: How quickly does bread spoil when we change the amount of sugar?
I hope you were able to stop by our new Makerspace in the Module on Friday! Thank you to the PTC for generously funding many of the items in the room. We've also received many donations from our community. So what is a Makerspace? At Terra Linda, it will provide opportunities for students to explore engineering, robotics, circuitry, and coding as well as animation, art, and design. We will continue to expand this list over time. Please open this link to see the list of what we are currently collecting. We would love your donations!
Thank you for supporting our Terra Linda community and for encouraging your children to be creative and innovative!
Kind Regards
Christy

Family Input Form - Optional
Each year we offer an opportunity for families to provide us with input before we make decisions about class placements for the upcoming school year. While we do not take requests for specific teachers, parent/guardian input will be considered in the formation of classes. Teachers carefully consider a number of factors to create balanced classes, including gender, academic levels, second language needs, special education needs, talented and gifted needs, and behavior needs. Families will be notified of class placements prior to the Back to School Picnic in August. This form is due on Friday, May 4, 2018 by 4:00 pm.
