A Message From the Principal
Happy Thursday! Wow! What an amazing week! We have sure enjoyed being outside for recess! Yay! The sun has sure been a welcome sight. Our students have been working on identifying text evidence to support our claims, continuing to identify coins in Kindergarten, and comparing and contrasting within specific content! Our students and teachers have been thinking hard! :)
We have made it to February! We have several events this month such as our Friendship party and STEAM night occuring through our PTA this month. Please check out the PTA website for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!

A Note from the Nurse
Even with the spring like weather, we continue to see cases of flu, COVID, and strep throat.
To protect all children from communicable illnesses, students infected with certain diseases are not allowed to come to school while they are contagious. Students should be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
The guidelines below have been developed for the exclusion of students who have communicable or contagious diseases. These regulations are in compliance with the requirements of the local health authority, Plano ISD Administrative Guidelines, and the Board of Trustees’ appointed medical officer.
A student with any of the following symptoms will be excluded from school until such time as the student is free of symptoms, has been satisfactorily treated, or submits a signed physician’s statement that he/she is not contagious.
*Temperature of 100.0 degrees or more. Student must be fever free for 24 hours without medication before re-entry.
*Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. Student must be symptom free for 24 hours without medication before re-entry.
*Pain and/or swelling at angle of jaw.
*Undetermined rash over any part of the body.
*Undiagnosed scaly patches on the body or scalp.
*Red, draining eyes.
*Intense itching with signs and symptoms of secondary infection.
*Open, draining lesions.
*Jaundice
Please send me an email keri.swartzendruber@pisd.edu or call me 469-752-1509 if you have any questions or concerns about when your child is able to return to school.
A Note From Mrs. Canfield
This month is all about perseverance. One way to think about perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. How might you practice perseverance as a family this month?
Pursuit #2
Review perseverance as a family! Remember that perseverance is pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles. Here’s a fun challenge: Can you fit your whole body through an index card? While it sounds impossible, with the correct folding and cutting technique, you can make it happen! Give each family member a 4x6 index card and a pair of scissors. Ready for the answer? You can find the directions and solution online by searching: “Fit Your Body Through an Index Card.”
Life Member Award for our PTA
Nominate someone to receive the a Life Member Award for our PTA!
The ONLY requirement for receiving this honor is that the recipient has made worthwhile contributions to the wellbeing of children and youth. He or she (while usually a member of PTA) does not have to be a member of the PTA, nor must the service for this honor being bestowed be connected with the PTA.
