Dear Village Oaks Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful week. Please remember that there is no school on Tuesday due to election day. I want to thank all of you who attended our Family Fun Bingo Night--it was a pleasure to see so many VO community members and students!
Sincerely,

School Photos
Pictures have been sent home with with students. Please remember, if you would like a retake, keep your picture package intact. Do not cut, open or use in any way. The package is your "ticket" for a retake. If you cut the picture, use the mug or manipulate the pictures in any way, you can still get a retake, but you will have to purchase a new package. Each envelope has a flyer inside with additional information. If you are missing something in your package, please contact SchoolPictures.com directly. The phone number is 1-800-482-0321.
Retake day is on Wednesday, November 14th. If your student is brand new to VO and has not had their photo taken, we will send home photo information to you this week.
Car Loop Parking Lot Changes
Thank you to everyone for not parking in our parking spots located in the drop off loop from 3:45pm-4:10pm. We are blocking off those spots during that time to ensure the safety of our students. As you all know pick-up time is extremely busy and we have had several incidents where cars have almost collided due to cars backing out of the parking spots during pick-up time. Additionally, we have had close encounters with students almost being hit crossing over to the parking spots during dismissal. We ask that you please park in our parking lot if you need to exit your car to pick up your child at the end of the school day. Contact me if you have any questions regarding changes during dismissal. Thank you for your understanding.

VO Flags
One of the things that makes our building so special is our diverse student population--we have families in our community who come from all over the world! To celebrate our global diversity we have hung flags in our cafeteria that represent many of the countries of our VO families. As a gift from VO retirees we were given flags of the following countries: Israel, India, England, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, South Korea, China, and USA. Thank you to our parents who have also donated the following flags: Poland, Singapore, Japan, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Nepal, Greece, Pakistan, Uruguay, Ecuador, Portugal, Spain, Central African Republic, South Africa, Wales, Iceland, Australia, and Armenia. If you would like to purchase a flag of your country of origin or to represent one of the many nationalities of our school please visit Amazon and search for an ANLEY 3x5 flag: VO Flags
Before purchasing and donating the flag to our school’s collection please contact me or one of our secretaries with the flag information so we can make sure that another family has not already ordered the same flag.

Playworks
Village Oaks & Orchard Hills Elementary were the first two elementary schools in NCSD to become part of the Play movement and make play a priority with Playworks in the 2017-2018 school year! This year all NCSD elementary schools will partner with Playworks to enhance the learning experiences for students throughout the district. Playworks is the leading nonprofit in Michigan and nationally using play to transform schools. A Playworks recess creates a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills. Please click on the link below and read the attached Playworks article to learn more about our partnership and Patrice our Playworks Coach!
