Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday October 20th and Tuesday October 25th. An electronic invitation to schedule your child’s conference was emailed on Saturday October 8th. If you have more than one student please try to stagger your appointments if possibly instead of booking them back to back. This will allow you time between conferences to get from classroom to classroom and it will help to keep all conferences on schedule. If you have any questions regarding conferences please contact the office at 262-970-1505.
Dental Program Waukesha In School Sealant Program (WISSP)
Hadfield second and third graders are invited to take advantage of a free dental program offered by the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic.
This program is designed to provide dental examinations, decay prevention (fluoride varnish), dental sealants if needed, and education about keeping teeth and gums healthy. Sealants are a tooth colored, plasticlike material that has been proven to be very effective in protecting teeth from decay (cavities). They are placed only on the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars), but are not put on teeth that already have cavities.
The program will take place at school on Wednesday November 2nd and all second and third graders are invited to participate. Information and permission forms will come home on Friday October 14th after dental hygienists from the Waukesha County Community Clinic will talk with students about the program and about keeping their smiles healthy.

Art, Music and Physical Education News
In math and literacy, students have been working to make their thinking visual by using thoughtful logs. The goal of the thoughtful log is to provide students' with a tool that organizes their thinking and records their learning. This year during specials (art, music and physical education), students will build upon this strategy to increase responsibility for their learning and progress.
Here are a few examples of what that looks like:
Sketchbooks will be created and utilized in the 3rd grade Art Classes to develop ideas/practice drawings for their final projects. Students will also use their sketchbook pages as ‘thoughtful logs’ to reflect and record the thinking that went into developing their projects throughout the school year. Art vocabulary/terminology will be incorporated into student reflections.
In Physical Education students have created SMART goals based on an area of their fitness that they would like to improve upon. 2nd through 4th grade students created a fitness booklet where they recorded their goal and plan to reach it, and 5th grade students recorded their goal through our Google Classroom page where they also had to defend why their goal was important and state how they would provide evidence of their learning and growth. All students 2nd through 5th will be completing unit reflections on their progress towards their goal biweekly as well.
In 3rd grade music, students are working on a year long objective to become better composers. They are using thoughtful logs to keep track of the vocabulary we have learned (Vocabulary) and examples of composing created by the students (My Thinking) using a district app called Book Creator.
