STEAM-U Learning Opportunity
Assessing Effectively Through Standards-Based Grading
Presented by the John Thomas School of Discovery (JTSD)
Facilitators: John Thomas School of Discovery Faculty
Standards-based grading has effectively become an asset to monitoring student growth in the elementary setting as we have shifted from assessment of learning to assessment “for” and “as” learning and more importantly allowing students to self-assess. These methods of evaluating student progress have opened up teachers’ and students’ ability to observe, assess, and provide meaningful feedback on how the child is individually meeting standards or reaching standards.
In this session teachers will have the opportunity to explore various assessment and self-assessment tools, as well as communication methods that will provide students, parents, and teachers an accurate reflection of what the student know and can do.
Location: John Thomas School of Discovery (JTSD), 312 N. Market St., Nixa, MO
